Why would Ime pick Toronto?  That is a bad job, perhaps the worst one open as they aren't good, don't have any real top level players (Siakam is ok and who knows what Barnes will be after very little progression this year), and have a lot of salary tied up in players who are mediocre.  I'd much rather take over Detroit or Houston who are both on the verge than Toronto.  Of course maybe the NBA lottery changes that as the Raptors in theory could end up with Wemby or some other true potential franchise player.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I would love for Ime to pick the Raps, because it looks like a major firesale is imminent

If they feel the need for a fire sale, wouldn't that suggest it's not Nurse's fault?

I mean, they SHOULD have a fire sale. This is a textbook treadmill team with a very low ceiling. I'm not sure they will though.

Nurse sounded like a guy who was just burned out. He’ll take a year hiatus and then get hired in a good spot. He’s got a pretty good coaching pedigree.

Currently only 3 openings and he doesn’t seem to be in running for the other two. Take what you can get. Plus Raptors have talent, they just lack big guards who can shoot.

It also doesn’t seem like that bad a situation og reportedly has pretty high value around the league. I wouldn’t write of Scottie Barnes as a prospect. Siakam is an all star level
Player. Poetl was a nice addition. It’s definitely not terrible. Probably time to move on from van fleet and get better guards.

Boy they ran out of patience fast.  Considering they hadn’t even sniffed  a title before him.

But , he kinda lucked into the Leonard situation., he doesn’t get a title without that dropping in his lap.  Guess he really needed K.L. To have stayed there.
Thought he was doing decent job for them ….oh well.

I don't think they have much talent.  Barnes basically stayed the same or got worse and didn't progress at basically anything (maybe a bit better passer).  I know they think highly of OG, but he was on the block and no one came close to what they wanted for him.  Siakam is a nice player, but they are better off trading him and getting draft picks and young players. All of their guards are basically ok, but not great.  I don't even know how much trade value Van Vleet or Trent would have.

They have no real way to get significantly better without tanking and being bad for a couple of seasons to get some high draft picks (unless they hit the lottery this year).  It is not a good place for a franchise to be.  They are basically the definition of treadmill of mediocrity.

I think the Hawks and Raptors should look at something like this

Siakam, OG, Achiuwa

for

Young, Collins

I think that would balance both teams more and make them both better.

Raptors - Young, Trent, Barnes, Collins, Poeltl - VanVleet, Boucher, Porter, Young
Hawks - Murray, Bogdanovic, OG, Siakam, Capela - Hunter, Bey, Griffin, Okongwu, Achiuwa
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield

Moranis, got to admit after seeing thousands of trades offers on here for many of years, this one is the best & makes sense for both teams..TP
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I think that trade makes Atlanta better, but Toronto worse.  Vanfleet and Young on the court together at any point of the game would be a disaster defensively. Trae Young and John Collins are both overrated, IMO.
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

For what it is worth with og. https://www.si.com/nba/raptors/.amp/news/toronto-raptors-received-an-offer-of-three-first-round-picks-for-og-anunoby

He is definitely a valued piece around the league.

I assumed they'd trade Vanvleet if they did that.  Maybe even just for a draft pick just to move on from him.
