Apparently the injury causes one to dribble off their foot.

It just not smart to make a late game play against Giannis.

His foot slipped, then he lost the ball.  Not sure if there was condensation on the floor?

Either way, he turned it over.  But it may not have 100% been his fault.

Unless you say he should never try to create on his own at the end of a game.  Which could be valid, except that the entire bench was in the game so someone had to and White was looking gassed.

Grant always gets too much criticism. Not unusual for players like him. Guys who are low usage defense first players. They are very consistent with their defensive game but because they take so few shots on offense they can be inconsistent with their scoring contribution so they get negative attention for that.

It is unfortunate because he always gives his best. He is one of the most dependable players on the team for his effort, defensive consistency and offensive decision making (shot selection). But a few shots missed here or there and the critics take aim.

So should we cut Grant some slack? Always yes.

I thought his defense was a lot more consistent last year. He has some games this year where he looks good, others not so much. I like Grant, but he will never be a starting caliber player. He’s a solid backup. Brogdon and White are starter level talent that come off the bench. He’s definitely not in that group.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I think the standard that Grant gets judged against should be lower than say the Js or Smart/Brogdon/Al...
Grant has improved a lot over the last year or two and is working to maximize his ability.  It is asking a lot for him to win / tie a game for you against your biggest rival with our top 4 guys out.

But he had some bad turnovers earlier in the game as well that are within the framework for his criticism.  Do I think he is worth 20 min/year, oh no.  But is he a valuable player for us? absolutely, as a bench player that has a skillset that helps us win playoff games.  He is needed.  Just playing too many minutes last night due to our other injuries.

Grant's worked his tall off to make something of himself.   I too, don't think he is worth 20 million.   But is a nice rotational player, who can shoot the three and defend areas of the court, with his physical strength by denying guys his position.   I wish he would use that strength to carve out space for rebounds a bit more.

White had a pick up top from Muscala, who rolled, got behind Grayson Allen and was open with a clear path to the rim. White missed that and also decided to give the ball to Grant instead of attacking Connaughton. As good as White was last night, he kind of blanked on that play.

Brogdon didn't seek the ball on the final play either.

I don't think the Hauser shot really showed any coherent play action either. He just made a great shot.

I loved the game and how hard they played, but its weird to me that they had no direction what to do on either of the final plays.
