The Celtics made a number of big moves around last year’s trade deadline, making several deals in all before their day was done. One other rumored swap that week included former Bucks guard Donte DiVincenzo who was eventually traded to the Sacramento Kings on deadline day.

In an interview with Anthony Slater of the Athletic, DiVincenzo recounts that deadline day back in February including his belief that he was set to join the Celtics in a swap that would have involved point guard Dennis Schroder.

“So when the trade deadline came, I didn’t know what to expect,” DiVincenzo said. “I’d heard a ton of rumors. I was in a place where, you know, I loved playing with those guys, but mentally I did wonder if a change of scenery would help. Because I was going into free agency as well. I was still focused on both sides of things. So when I got traded, I was all over the place. Is this great? Is this bad? I thought I was going to Boston.”

DiVincenzo also recounted the specifics of the deal.

“I think I was supposed to go for Dennis Schröder to Boston. I don’t know what happened. Somebody might’ve wanted too much. But that was my impression, that I was going to Boston. The Sacramento one came out of nowhere.”

That means no Theis.  I wonder if it would have also meant no White.

Probably? Maybe? Sounds like Theis and White were a fallback plan?

Maybe Brad tried to send Romeo et al out for a big and then get DiVincenzo and the big deal fell through, so he pivoted?

Maybe he was trying for Brandon Clarke? Or Collins? Neither of those guys moved. Did any bigs that would fit the Celtics get traded?

I think White still would have happened.  DiVincenzo would have been more of a replacement for Richardson after the White deal.

Were there any regrets not getting DiVincenzo

Not by me. Lol. Would rather have White and the C’s have more than enough guys that can play the 2.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Given how little Theis played in the playoffs, I think I'd have rather had DiVincenzo.  Definitely needed White though, so if acquiring Dante would have stopped that, it would have been a bad move.
