Someone mentioned this here somewhere.  In their first Finals appearances.  Tatum avg 21.5 ppg 7 apg, and 6.8 rpg

Lebron avg 22 ppg 7 rpg and 6.8 apg.

I was really disappointed with Tatum in the Finals but this puts things in perspective.  It's tough for the top dog, the focus of the defense in they're first trip to the big show.

Confident Tatum will come back much stronger next time around.

Couple of big differences, though: 1) LeBron didn't set a record for turnovers in the postseason, and 2) LeBron carried a bunch of scrubs to that Finals (Larry Hughes was probably the second-best player on that team, lol).

But yeah, hopefully Tatum helps lead Boston to as many Finals as LeBron has been to, and at least as many titles.

LeBron turned the ball over 23 times in the 4 game Finals of 2007. Almost as many turnovers as assists. IIRC, LeBron averaged less points, rebounds and assists per possession in that Finals too.

Hmm
Yeah
But if Tatum follows lebrons example in a year or two he’ll leave to join the warriors or the bucks.  That’s really the best path to a championship apparently. 🙄😂

Tatum still has a chance to be better than Lebron.

Also a different era.  I mean San Antonio's 4 scores (all wins) were 85, 103, 75, 83.  It was just a slow pace back then, especially against the Spurs.  Lebron obviously had a poor shooting series though as he was only 35.6% from the field (and a horrible 20% from 3).

And there is no planet in which Tatum will ever be better than Lebron.  That kind of nonsense talk needs to end.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

The per possession numbers are fairly similar between the two

That second one is a HUGE context setter. Tatum had the DPOY in Smart and a fringe allstar in Brown for teammates.

But regardless, Tatum played well enough to not worry me but also bad enough to not give his team a chance. Dubs deserved to win the series. I hope C’s can make it back to the top of the mountain because there are a lot of killer teams in the East.

You honestly believe that Tatum is going to be one of the 2 best players to ever play the game?
