I’m a Celtic junkie. They’re the only team I genuinely care about. Hoop was only sport I played. I didn’t get as far as I wanted but as I’m older now, still love watching the game but I’ve always been really dissspointed in the Celtics coverage.
Can they not run a half hour show once in awhile describing plays and sets we or other teams run . I find this stuff so interesting. The way the Bucks came out pressing surprised everybody. Then you talk about how the opponent reacts or how they CAN react.
Scal I feel has done the most “coaching “within the game that I’ve seen. Tommy is the best and there’s no contest by the way R.I.P.) but with the pace of the game it’s a hard thing to do.
I wanna barf when I have to hear baseball players break down Celtics games and as deep as they get is “ well I said you’re gonna need some combination between the jays equaling 60 points.”)
It’s a tiny bit better on tv. I can’t believe what I’ve heard from Ordway and Merloni. These guys MOCKED fans for days that did t want Kyrie back even if it had to mean getting absolutely nothing
In return.Thst we would be better off with Rozier.
Writers like Bob Ryan and Jackie Mac I really felt were such in love with the Bird years that they didn’t give the proper respect to the 2008 team until it was done. They questioned their will in that Detroit series.
I’m just overall really dussapointed in our coverage and passion for this franchise by our media .
I think Scal has come back around. I know s lot of us hated his jabbing and uncomfortable challenging if Abby Chin and other’s opinions on camera. I think he does s great job again.
Mike Gorman I don’t have to say anything. He’s just THE BEST and hope he does it for 25 more years. Looooove Perk. He’s hilarious and he’s a homer. I also love Pierce . He’s s homer to a ridiculous degree. I miss that so much about Tommy.
Long rant but we’re one of the most storied franchises and we’re SUPPOSED to be an intelligent hoop city. Meh.

Sorry. I lost my main point in that there’s way more to basketball than rolling out the ball and I think a half hour show would entertain big fans and educate normies that YES coaching  matters in basketball.

You and me both. I tend to find a lot of that stuff on Youtube.

Yup, you can find stuff like this online more than on TV.

Mainly because mainstream media focus on drama.

This is probably more what you're looking for;

Echoing Kiorrik, YouTube is probably the easiest way to go - particularly if you have a Smart TV or something of the sort. Gives you the chance to watch it all on the big screen.

Discover the world of Podcasting too, my friend, I gave up on terrestrial radio long ago. It's garbage.

I'm with you mate, but I'm not sure the appetite is there. There are loads of sports that I don't understand the intricacies of (like either style of football) that I'm quite happy to watch as a pleb because it's fun to watch.

I prefer reading to podcasts, but Thinking Basketball's latest episode (117) spends some time on Game 3 Celtics/Bucks, and they usually get deeper than the average bear:

Cedric is amazing, Eddie House has been pretty good too.

Perk is kinda embarrassing at times. Scal is fine, but weirdly annoying, despite his reasonably insightful analysis.

I wanna see Rondo get into the media.

I'd love a show like that, but I don't think it would have enough of an audience.

Our best hope is the internet.  There are breakdowns on youtube, Zach Lowe usually has some pretty insightful analysis in his columns, etc.

I like Perk - more honest with his evaluations of the C's than some.  House has impressed me with his commentary in the studio - would like to see him back next season.

Scal is hit or miss.  think I still have a hangover from his on-camera battles with Abby Chin that have left a bad taste in my mouth for his studio work.  his color work is ok.  he's no Tommy but no one else ever will be.

As long as Chris Mannix is far away, I don't care about anything else.  I can't stand that guy.

Jared Weiss tends to do a lot of Xs and Os columns after each Celtics game on the Athletic. You need a sub though.
