Starting on January 15, 2022, to address rising COVID-19 cases and encourage vaccination, individuals will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to enter certain indoor spaces in Boston. People working in those locations will also be required to have received their vaccines.

Seems like the Celtics will need to be vaccinated by January 15th to play home games.  Remains to be seen if visiting players will also be subject to the requirement, but the press release language implies they would be.

What are the “certain indoor spaces”?

Restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, fitness centers, and the like.  Not supermarkets, places of worship, etc.

Where are you seeing this?  It's not on the City of Boston website that I can find.

EDIT: Found it myself.  Disappointing that the Celtics presumably lobbied to be exempted.

I believe there is an exemption for the players.

Dumb rule.

Just, like, NBA is struggling with a pandemic.

"but let's make an exemption to allow them to not be vaccinated"

There's 0 logic at play here. All money.

It's actually actively stupid.

Wonder if President Biden will make an announcement tomorrow that "fully vaccinated" is revised to 3 shots and not 2 anymore

No doubt that the third shot is the new standard for fully vaccinated.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced Monday that the city will begin requiring individuals to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to enter certain indoor spaces, from restaurants to gyms to event venues.

The requirement will begin to take effect on Jan. 15, requiring individuals over the age of 12 to show proof that they’ve received at least one vaccine dose. Beginning on Feb. 15, they will have to show proof of at least two doses.

The phased-in policy will also expand to children as young as 5 in March and May.

Here’s the list of covered entities:

Indoor dining:

The requirement applies to indoor portions of food service establishments offering food and drink, including:

restaurants
bars
all indoor dining areas of food service establishments.
The requirement does not apply to:

any food service establishment offering food or drink exclusively for off-premises or outdoor consumption
a food service establishment providing charitable food services, such as soup kitchens
Indoor fitness centers:

commercial gyms and fitness centers
yoga, pilates, barre, and dance studios
boxing and kickboxing gyms
fitness boot camps
indoor pools
other facilities used for conducting group fitness classes
Indoor entertainment and event venues:

movie theaters
music or concert venues
commercial event and party venues
museums and galleries
professional sports arenas and indoor stadiums
convention centers and exhibition halls
performing arts theaters
bowling alleys, and
other recreational centers

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I say this as someone who works in healthcare and just got my booster this past weekend, but I'm not sure how this helps if you're literally letting places of worship, supermarkets, sports stadiums, etc. be exempt from this. In fact, I think this only hurts small businesses even more and just makes things more annoying. You also know people will find loopholes with all this.

It's a good step, but still not enough.

I went to the Celtics game last night and even though they were constantly reminding people of wearing masks (every time out break, signs all over), there were so many people completely ignoring it. The people next to us didn't even have their mask on their ears. I didn't see anybody enforcing it. On the other hand, there were also many of us wearing masks as well. Regardless of mandate, I don't know how anybody can feel comfortable going into an arena with thousands of people screaming their heads off and not want to wear a mask. It's like taking public transportation and not washing your hands afterwards.
Baby Jesus!
