I was recently listening to Chris Vernon (Grind City Media & The Ringer) discuss the Sacramento Kings and their ongoing issues, Vernon stated that he was talking with someone close to Haliburton and asked “what has happened to him (Haliburton) this season?” The response was “we have got to get him out of there.”

Another noteworthy piece of information is that the Kings ownership group have a ‘playoff mandate’ this season, as they attempt to stop the franchise breaking the L.A Clippers record playoff drought.

This perfect storm has me wondering…could Haliburton be available for a ‘win now’ trade package?

Nothing has happened to him. It's not Haliburton's fault that people have unrealistic expectations of him. He isn't explosive enough to beat his opponent 1-on-1, hence he cannot consistently create his own shot. He's a low-usage, pass-first role player. Don't get me wrong, I'm a massive fan of his game. I also think he'd be a perfect fit on the Celtics. My point is, he's overrated right now. I bet the Kings view him as a future all-star. If we want to pry him away from the Kings, we'd have to accept their valuation that he's a future all-star. Imo, he'll never reach that level. Give it a season or two and the Kings might think he has failed to reach his potential. We should always try to buy low and sell high. If we buy now, we'd be buying sky high.
