I've felt the new Wilson and it's different texture almost fuzzy. I hate the feel of it doesn't roll off the hand.
Why on earth would they need a new ball for the NBA?  The old ball was perfect.

Actually, the NBA Wilson ball from the 70's/80's had deep grooves and a little texture to the skin. Great for palming and dunking. At that same time, college used a smoother, much less grooved Spalding (best ball I ever played with once you got it broken in a little).

So in recent years, it has been a complete reversal, colleges playing the Wilson with those bulky grooves and the pros using the smoother Spalding. Probably switch again in the next decade or so.

Tatum, playing with a different body and a different ball, is struggling. Makes perfect sense. Good perimeter shooting and muscle bulk do not go well together. He's gotta play through it and let the game come to him. Focus on other ways to contribute to wins and don't force the offense. Last nite vs Miami, with him taking fewer shots, seemed to help everyone else become more involved. Less ball dominance from him and Brown will only help this offense. Keep it moving !!

If you have to use the grooves to palm a ball, then you have small hands.

Tatum is taller than me, and I can literally palm the ball ever dribble with one hand while dribbling as at a full run.  My hand is about 9" Long and 10.5" wide.  I can't imagine that he can't do the same with him being an inch or two taller than me with longer wingspan as well.

Tatum, in these last two wins, took only 16 and the 13 shots. By no means do I think "Tatum taking fewer shots = wins" but I do think these numbers are related. Let the ball move around naturally and when Tatum doesn't have it (which he hasn't lately) the ball will find whoever does have it and wins will follow without Tatum hoisting a ton of shots. But if Tatum is forcing shots, his attempts go up and then wins become scarce.

When Tatum starts feeling it again, letting the ball move naturally should result in the ball finding him and his own numbers going up as the team wins,
