Zinger, Burke
for
Horford, Nesmith, G. Williams, 2022 1st, 2024 1st lotto
Boston post-trade (1 open roster spot)
PG - Burke, Pritchard, Dunn, Edwards
SG - Smart, Richardson, Langford
SF - Brown
PF - Tatum, Parker, Fernando
C - Porzingis, R. Williams, Kanter
Hopefully you'd get minutes of Zinger and RW or Kanter so Tatum could play some at SF.
Yuck. Why for Boston? Nesmith plus two #1s for a fragile player on a bad contract?
I know that you're all about winning titles. Do you think that gets us there?
Porzingis is a 20/9 player. Solid 3 point shooter. Excellent foul shooter. Blocks shots and doesn't turn it over. He obviously has some injury issues, but he is a fantastic player and would be a superb 3rd option for Boston. He can play some at the 4 as well as the 5. He can defend big guys well and can fit into any offensive system. He obviously has a max deal, though it isn't a crazy max and that 3rd year is a player option (31.5, 34, player option 36). He finished last year healthy and seems to be the healthiest he has been in awhile.
I think he raises Boston's ceiling a great deal and he just turned 26. He is probably always going to be a 75% games played type player, but if he is healthy for the playoffs, that is fine by me. And I do think he would create matchup problems for the best teams in the league. I'd like Boston's chances against a team like the Nets, for example, as he would be difficult for them to guard effectively (I think Giannis could handle him ok, but that also takes Giannis out of help defense when playing the Bucks). If Tatum takes a leap up into the top 10 range, then yeah, I think Boston could realistically contend with Brown and Porzingis flanking him and still having guys like Smart and Williams to provide some toughness and defense.
I'd absolutely give up Horford, Nesmith, and a couple of late 1st's to take a real shot at contending the next few seasons. If that trade is available you take it and you don't wait around for something better as something better may never come.
