This came up in Paul Pierce's thread, but I think it deserves its own thread, and didn't see a link to the article:

Awesome news. Very happy for him. Met him once briefly when I was a kid. Nice guy. 👍

One of the best in the game, if not in all of sport. We are spoiled to have had him for so long.

Certainly deserved and definitely overdue.

There are a ton of guys overdue.  Part of the issue is that the award has only existed since 1990, and they only take one writer and one broadcaster each year.

Expand it before these guys are dead.  Let them still be alive to bask in the deserved adulation.

Well deserved and certainly earned. Wish Tommy was here to celebrate with him.

I'll never forget when I randomly watched olympic handball, and recognized the voice calling the match. Couldn't believe it was Mike, he was doing a great job with it. That was probably the first and last time I ever watched handball

I agree. I mean, Tommy is our best example, right?

Ideally, they would have recognized Tommy and Mike together before Tommy passed on.

Mike Gorman is well deserving of the honor.

I know Tommy Heinsohn is in the Hall of Fame as a player and coach. However, he was definitely deserving of being in there as a broadcaster too. If I'm watching a local broadcast, I want the guys calling the game to be biased toward the home team too. Tommy would never hold back that he was rooting for the Celtics and it was something I always respected about him. You couldn't filter him.

Great news for one of the best. Dorchester guy, went to BC, US Navy pilot....called games at Madison Square Garden for Dave Gavitt's newly formed Big East conference.

I agree with you guys, wish Tommy was here for this big day for Mike.
