complete hypothetical. if you made a team out of the guys who have left over the past few years, would they beat this current team in a best of 7 series? Assume theyre all healthy.

Kyrie - Wanamaker
Rozier - Dozier
Hayward - Nader
Morris - Theis
Horford - Kanter - Baynes

Now obviously i rather have the current squad as a roster moving forward, but with the way theyve played this year so far, i think this hypothetical team would have a real chance. Of course they arent deep, but whose containing Kyrie??

It is just crazy that it might be closer than people think. I can't remember a team that has lost this much talent in just 2 years and hasnt ended up in complete shambles. Sort of amazing the C's are still as relevant as they are after losing this kind of talent in such a short amount of time..

Are you factoring in if the game is in Boston with fans because Kyrie will no-show?

Current squad wins because Kyrie and Rozier would try to kill each other and Hayward would get hurt trying to break it up.

If you want a former team to demolish us just put the original Celtics killer (whether he’s playing against or for us) — Jeff Green.

Jeff Green demolishing the Celtics hurts so much more since he was so mediocre here. If Pierce killed the Celtics when he left I could have dealt with it but not Jeff freaking green

Edit: actually I shouldn’t even say mediocre, I should say severely inconsistent. Would put up 40+ on LeBron one game then go get cooked by Wilson chandler the next.

That team is not better than the existing team because Tatum is the best player on either squad and Brown is a very close to Irving 3rd.

How many tens of millions of dollars would a team that signed all of those players be over the salary cap?

Kyrie - ~35
Hayward - ~30
Horford - ~30
Morris - ~15
Rozier - ~20

It was never an option to keep all or even most of those guys, setting aside whether they wanted to be here.

That bench might be worse than the current bench...
