Empty Uniforms

Gross game.

One thing I noticed both this game and the last are the empty uniforms on the court. What I mean by that are the guys who play 20+ minutes and contribute next to nothing on the stat sheet. Yesterday it was Teague and Semi and GWill playing 46 minutes and scoring 2 points COMBINED. Tonight Theis plays 26 minutes and attempts ONE shot (a miss). No lobs. No dunks. No foul line open jumpers. A 0 / 4 / 5 line in 26 minutes. Ojeleye 19 minutes, 5 points. GWill 22 minutes and 5 points.

Are they mediocre to bad NBA players? Yes. But I don't think it's really their fault. This is the Tatum and Brown show (and when Marcus is on, the Marcus and Smart show). They don't trust anyone. They don't create for anyone. It's a barrage of bricked jumpers, and then when they get far enough behind they start driving, but very rarely do they look to get others involved. Well, they might throw up terrible lobs to Timelord.

Know what's the most infuriating about watching other teams? The extra pass. We're scrambling like idiots, and they just keep moving it around the perimeter until their #4 or 5 option has a wide open look. And a completely wide open look even by a mediocre player is usually a better look than a contested step-back from Tatum or Brown. But they don't move it. You could feel the animosity in the team a few years ago when Tatum and Brown were chafing under the vets like Morris and Rozier and Kyrie. And yet . . . leading is harder than it seems. This is a team game. You can't just go ISO for an entire game and win.

Things won't improve until the Jays start trusting their teammates.

A solution is trading Brown for Beal, and moving the coach.

Brown and Tatum took 50 of the 88 shots the Celtics had. Smart and Grant Williams had 17 shots.  That's 67 of 88 shots. I'm posting this again because no other team in the league is freezing out the other players like this. Other teams give the ball to the hot hand. That's why some guy you never heard of is always lighting us up and none of our bench guys ever gets enough shots to ever go off. 67 0f 88 shots for 4 guys.

That's losing basketball.

PP and TL 9-11 shooting. Maybe they should get more shots. Your right TIMELORD has to go and get everything. If Chris Paul was on this team TIMELORD would average 20 points a game even in as little as 20 minutes.

Something is seriously wrong with the vibe of this team.  My best guess is its the anointment of Brown and Tatum and some of the players are p---ed about it and rebelling.

You could not be part of the Celtics organization,  watched any of this and been happy. 

I have no say in the matter  or answers either  , but I don’t feel I need to watch any more garbage basketball games , till they figure it out .

tatum and brown shot 5 for 23 from 3 point land, which is 21.7%

tatum and brown shot 8 for 13 from FT, which is 61.5%

the entire team, minus TL and Marcus, stunk and that includes tatum and brown. that is the larger problem in my mind. as a team they do not seem to be working as hard as they should or performing well as a team.

it is more that the role players not producing each night. as role players they are not supposed to do that each night.

That only works because they do make those shots.

The team I see when I watch doesn't want to shoot. They give the ball to Tatum and Brown and get out of the way. There is no motion when Tatum starts his routine. MAybe one high pick, while everyone stands in their perimeter spot.

I'm becoming more convinced that Stevens has lost his way. One huge flaw is that Tatum and Brown operate as separate teams out there. They do not interact. They do not make plays for one another.

I think Brown is really trying to pass more. But no one else is doing anything different, including the coach.
