I’m surprised that nobody would beat that, and I’m surprised that Detroit took this deal so soon.  I would have figured that they could get a second #2.

The Knicks have a strong defense and getting Rose to inject some offensive firepower could be the difference for them to make the playoffs. Would be a great accomplishment by Thibodeau and also a huge surprise.

Weird trade.

I would have thought that Rose was worth more than this.  He hasn't been as good this year as he was last year, but he's still a useful player on an affordable, expiring contract.  So it's not like this was a salary dump.  Not sure Smith is even an asset anymore.  I feel like the Pistons lost this deal.

Also, I'm a little surprised that NY is looking for guard depth.  Barrett and Quickley need minutes, and Payton has been decent.  But I guess if you have an opportunity to do a no-brainer like this trade, you do it.  Worry about the rotation later.
