What if ...

Kemba and our 3 first rounds picks (first routed to Atlanta for #6) go to the Pelicans for Jrue

And ...

Hayward goes to Indiana for Turner

What do folks think about both of these and the new starting lineup:

Jrue
Smart
Brown
Tatum
Turner

Pros: lower cost, younger, better on D, clarifies this is Brown and Tatum’s team.
Cons: ?

This is the exact same thing every else is claiming. The con? Turner is trash and doesn’t “bolster” the roster enough to do.

If Hawyard is planning to walk if we don't trade him to a team he likes, we may as well get some value for him though.

Seems like an over pay for Jrue. If Kemba is healthy he’s the best player in the deal. If he’s not healthy why would they want him?

But if that deal is done I’d rather keep Gordon if we can renegotiate his deal. Not sure we have enough offense without Kemba and Gord.

Something like this with a few picks moved around would work for me.

I think any Kemba trade depends entirely on the prognosis of his knee.

Pre-injury level is close to untouchable.

Post-injury Kemba is a bad contract.

I ca t imagine Danny saying in front of a camera of how they’ll need to manage Kemba’s knee if he felt he could possibly be traded. As we know, Danny will trade anybody. I love that about him. But this concerns me way more than Hayward’s injury history. ( Even though Hayward maybe won’t be here regardless).

I think this would be making a trade for the sake of just doing a trade which is precisely what DA said he wouldn’t do. Turner himself just does not improve the team even with a subtraction of Hayward. If that’s the team he likes that’s fine, we can always flip who we get back for someone we actually need if there the case.

But hey getting Kemba was a surprise to me anyways, so we shall see.

If Hayward has no intention of staying in Boston, then they should trade him. If that results in Turner, I am ok with that. Better to get something than to have him leave for nothing. Turner may or may not be a good fit, but he can be traded for something else if needed.

Trading Kemba a year after he committed to signing here as an FA has bad optics. From a team still recovering from the IT trade, it would make that image worse. That being said, I am very concerned about Kemba’s health/knee.

Also, it would totally be Ainge to just trade both of the guys because he’s Ainge.

Kemba might be okay with being moved. I dont' like the fact he deferred to Brown and Tatum. He's the vet, still in his prime, he should have had a push and pull relationship with him. Let the have room, but he should have been taking over games at times when he was feeling it. He did some times, but not enough, not for the money he's being payed. Hayward too. I love him, I think the offense moves better with him on the floor, but too passive to often. If Brown,Tatum,Smart are the core, DA need to get guys that work the best.

I have seen Turner play enough for a visual, but looking at his last few games he was playing well stat wise. A couple 5 block games, doubles in rebounds and points.

Holiday age wise is the same as Kemba, not quite as good on the offense, but MUCH better on D. With him and Turner it makes it hard for guards to score now.

You should also be able to get a couple bench guys. If they can pull off a Lamb or McBuckets from Indy and a Reddick from NO, I call that a win. There would actually be a decent bench. I know Reddick is a bit of a long shot, but he's wasted in No and might want shot at a title, he's not getting younger.

Holiday/FA
Smart/Reddick
Brown/McBuckets
Tatum/Theis/Williams
Turner/Williams/

Thats a heck of a starting line up a nice mix of D and offense. Lose some D off the bench, but should be able to score.
