Not too sure if anyone on here has full comprehension of the NBA CBA but hypothetically speaking if we were to trade for Giannis would we get his bird rights in the trade too or if re-signing him would we have to trade away or let go of someone like Hayward?

I'll try to answer. If we trade for Giannis within the next month (next trade deadline), he would own his full bird rights.
That would theoretically enable us to resign him over the cap. However, Giannis has a cap hold of $37,500,000, and that figure would count on our cap sheet, effectively putting us over the limit. We would have to clear Gordons cap hold ($43,365,000 meaning not resigning him) to be able to sign Giannis to his new max.

Any team that trades for Giannis would be able to go over the cap to re-sign him.  He has a cap hold but that wouldn't stop Boston from re-signing it's own players that they also have rights to.  So Boston could keep whatever players remained but wouldn't be able to add any one new in cap space, only exceptions
