Marcus Smart (eye) announced on Twitter he practiced with the team today. It had been multiple weeks since he was on the court.

As of yesterday, Stevens noted he was “unlikely” to play on Christmas Day.

Yeah, he's been out for ages. Kinda sucks, because his (and Hayward's) playmaking has been missed at times.

Annoying that he seems to get weird flukey injuries somewhat often

That's because he's very intense.

He plays so hard, he's always diving on the floor and taking charges.

The human body just can't handle that kind of abuse.

I heard before that there is an eye infection that is supposed to be contagious. I don't know that is what he had. If something is contagious best to give him extra time away jic.

Larry Bird was able to for a near-decade ;)

I'm pretty sure that the eye infection is unrelated to Marcus' intensity on the court.

That was a different era.

Players right now are stronger, faster, and heavier.

Larry Bird was 6-9 and only weighed 220 lbs.

Jaylen Brown is only 6-6 but he weighs 222 lbs.

It also lead him to early retirement and he spent several seasons toward the end of his career hobbled in pain. If not for his back issues, he could have won another 2 or 3 titles

I guess you missed the look that Smart gave Jamal Murray in the last game that he played.

Agree.

I think Celts still had enough to win in 1989.

That was the time Bird missed 76 games and was out for the season.
