So Lebron promotes himself as some kind of power of social good, sponsor of education and entertainer. He bristles at the suggestion that he is just an athlete and is forever promoting himself as intelligent and sophisticated. Give me a break.

Hey Lebron, if you want to be respected as "more than an athlete" , learn how to spell and use correct grammar.

Maybe you should follow the advice of one conservative journalist and just Shut Up and Dribble.

He doesn't need your approval or anyone else's to consider himself more as a person than an athlete and you're literally telling him to just be an athlete at the end so it's even more moot. Not sure what the point is other than shallow resentment. Is he supposed to like drive off a cliff when he can't play pro sports anymore or...?

Woahhhhh. Did I hit a nerve ?

Lebron can undertake whatever endeavors he likes. My point is that he strikes me as extremely pretentious and someone who is always looking for the camera and a mic to spout what is often an ignorant opinion. What's wrong with just being a great athlete ? Why does he have such a need to demonstrate some level of sophisticated intelligence that he obviously does not have. And God forbid that anyone should challenge him on it - such people are met with irrational anger like yours and accuse us of labeling Lebron as just a dumb jock when all I am saying is that he is not the worldly spokesman he tries to be and his opinions are sometimes painfully uninformed.

My comment at the end is not literal, merely a little humor with a slight bit of truth to it.

I always enjoy the grammar police that have grammatical errors in their statements.

I'm not trying to be a national mouthpiece on topics I know very little about. If he's trying to be a world-wide personality, the least he could do is speak and write correctly. You guys need to lighten up.

no, you are being the internet grammar police with grammatical errors in your policing.

And this seems like a strange James post to try to make the point you are making.  Nothing in that tweet has anything to do with what you are chiding him for.  Therein lies the rub.

I really don’t understand what Lebron even wants to do. Don’t think he is a bad guy or anything, just weird.

He just simply wants attention and praises.

as any spoiled kid would

This.

The "shut up & dribble" stuff is so played out.  Why are these athletes expected to be robots?

Agreed. Hate him on the court as much as you want. The guy puts his time and money where his mouth is.  The school he opened and his charities have made an impact on his community, he's helped so many kids get opportunities that would not be afforded to them otherwise. Maybe that's the problem people have with him.

Nothing in his "tweet" is what I am criticizing. Huh ?? Of course there is.

Yeah, I don't like the guy at all, for reasons both on the court and off, so I'll be criticizing him however and whenever I see reason to, whether you think it's appropriate or not. Maybe Lebron can attend English composition class at his new school.
