Man, I wish Conley was 5 years younger, I feel he would fit very well with the Celtics. Defensive-centric, really good shooter, team guy. Love his game.

Kyrie without the attitude, and who plays defense, LOL.

If it was possible, and I know it's not, Malcolm Brogdon fits the Celtics to a tee.  I wish there was some way to get this guy.  He fits perfectly with Tatum, Brown, Hayward and Horford.  He's exactly the type of PG the C's need.  It seems the Bucks can't afford him and they would never do a sign and trade with the C's but if the Bucks can't keep him I wish there was some way to get this guy.

If we lose Kyrie, renegotiate Horford and let Morris and some other salary go, I think we could fit Dinwiddie in under the cap. We could trade a first for him straight up.

Its not Conley, but Dinwiddie's really good and we keep Hayward. Does that work?

Conley is better than Dinwiddie.
Well, the comparison is really Dinwiddie+Hayward or Conley+Morris.

Both are good options, but I have a preference for Dinwiddie+Hayward. I like the idea of a huge backcourt, and I am more optimistic about Hayward coming back with a vengeance.

I see your point. Admittedly, I don't know as much about Dinwiddie as I do about Conley. Anybody, but Rozier.
What are Dinwiddie's strengths?
Slasher with the ball in his hands, creating high percentage looks near the rim or from the foul line. Not a great shooter but a willing one and his shot profile is efficient. Takes a lot of 3s, paint shots, and free throws even if he's not a great 3 point shooter.

He's not a great passer but a willing one as well. Good player especially on his extension.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I could get behind a S&T with Kyrie that brought Dinwiddie to Boston. I mean, he's no Russell, but he is a lot cheaper and seems like a really solid player. Again, I realize a S&T with Irving is incredibly unlikely, just stating that I would be okay if the consolation prize was Dinwiddie.

A sign and trade involving Russel makes way more sense as they might end up renouncing him to make room for Harris/Kyrie or Butler/Kyrie.

Dinwiddie is now cost controlled and has dealt with a bench role for years, the kind of guy you need when you have two max FAs eating up most of your cap. I don't see that happening at all.

No. They want to keep russell. As they have stated multuple times.

Add to that russell can play off ball better than Dinwiddle.

Their best play is tobsign and trade for dinwiddie amd irving.

Sign another max free agent (butler)

Then either sign and trade or sign and keep russell at that time.

Keeping dinwiddie but sign and trading russell will NOT let them get another max free agent. They will not have the capspace to do so.

So it is this.

Kyrie and dinwiddie

Or

Kyrie, russell and butler

Thank God there are only 9 days until the NBA Draft (with an NHL Game 7 and hopefully two Finals games sprinkled in).

I can’t handle these asinine rumors for much longer.

I think if Kyrie leaves we need to start recruiting players who fit the Jays’ timeline—not guys like Conley.

Silly, silly Jiri Welsch. I think we've both been around here long enough to know that, within a week of resolution, there will be all new and even more asinine rumors.

Blue Jays aren't winning a World Series anytime soon

I think it's two years at 30mil per year. Not sure it's worth it, and he's going to be 32 by the start of the season. Rather try to get Rubio in a 1and1.
