Title: 2017-2018 Memphis Grizzlies Watch Thread

Next year's pick: Top 8 protected 2019, Top 6 protected 2020, unprotected 2021

Jumping the gun just a little here (and I am the biggest fan of pick watch threads)

Not till 2019 draft.

I feel Memphis will blow it up at least before the Feb 19 deadline, so they can try to salvage some value from Gasol.

Getting that 2021 unprotected would be HUGE. There is no way Memphis will be competing then with all the crazy young talent in the league at the moment.

I have a feeling this thread will finish at the end of the season with everyone agreeing that danny did a genius move.... again

considering it's top 8 protected in 2019, there's a pretty good likelihood that it will convey that year.  there's a number of lousy teams this year that will still be pretty bad the following year too.

Also on GrizzlyBearBlues:

Quote
-Marc Gasol is the most plodding player on this roster. His on-court frustrations seep into dumb basketball decisions and checking out defensively. He’s quite possibly the only Memphis player who doesn’t want to run in transition and the only one who still sticks to the Grit and Grind offensive mentality, save for a relatively new 3-point shot. He’s been inconsistent and moody all year and that alongside a terrible losing streak led to extremely unfavorable circumstances for David Fizdale. Marc’s going to be accused of being a coach killer and a bad teammate with his outburst after one (1) benching. To hear Marc Gasol complain about teammates’ urgency or care this season was eyeroll-inducing. He may want to be the voice of reason now that there is a power vacuum with the coach gone and the other star injured, but it would seem to fall on deaf ears considering the messenger.

Doesn't seem like a lock to convey in 2019 by any means.  I'd say there is a pretty good chance the bottom falls out for Memphis and we are looking at an unprotected pick in 2021!

I agree, but we just need them to finish ahead of the Lakers this year. Lol

Seeing on various sites that Conley will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Wouldn't surprise me if they shut him down and embrace the tank.

It is amazing that the Grizzlies ignored all the warning signs, and signed Parsons to 4/94 million contract lol.

Also what happened to JaMychal Green?.... Did he suddenly fall off a cliff?...
