Pretty cool ‘80s gem making a comeback courtesy of Stranger Things. It might go number one, which would be presumably unheard of for a song that first charted almost 40 years ago:

How about some other ‘80s gems that somehow have been overlooked for 30+ years?

The entire 80's decade was a gem in terms of music and movies. Glad to see Kate Bush getting some well deserved recognition by a whole new era of music fans.

It’s an objectively terrible song, but Send me an Angel was in both Rad and The Wizard. Why not bring it out again?

Don’t forget that it was featured in Teen Wolf, Too 😂 I just picture those motorcycles in The Wizard, though:

It all seemed quite epic in 1989 Nintendoland 😂 in real life, I’m pretty sure that’s something kids should not do—just hop on motorcycles with a random motorcycle club? Good job, Nintendo.

More inclined to listen to the Scorpions’ Send Me an Angel these days.

Take On Me by A-ha (1985) has a fantastic video. "The video won six awards and was nominated for two others at the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards."

I'm all for it. Talking Heads, The The, Ultravox, New Order, Simple Minds, Cocteau Twins, Depeche Mode, Heaven 17, Aztec Camera, The Human League, The Cure, China Crisis, Duran Duran, Level 42, David Sylvian, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, and plenty more.

Few Aussie gems of that decade. The Reels, The Go-Betweens, Mental As Anything, INXS. The 80s rocked for music

I loved the 80s, mostly for the cartoons.  But, for music, you can’t beat prime Madonna and Michael Jackson.  The pop was great.  Talking Heads, the Cars were just outside the mainstream and were amazing.

Awful song and awful decade for music.   Oh... I'm just saying that because I know no better... I haven't paid attention to new music since about 1974 (graduated college in 1980 so I did suffer through the heart of disco in college).   Stuck I am though in my childhood 60's and early 70's.

But I did listen to the song that the OP shared.  I am loving Stranger Things, but wow... that's some bad song.

I feel NG.  I haven’t listened to much new music since about 2003, except the stuff that is no pervasive that you can’t miss it.

Best music:  1992 (freshman year) until 2003 (graduation from law school). No debating allowed.  And Alternative / grunge is unequivocally the best music.

Haha.

Looks like we have something else in common:  90s alternative/grunge is by far the best music.  In my car and on my phone I listen to Lithium on Serius XM.

I own a Record Store near LA...and the 80s have never died here...we opened in 1986, still going strong...hate to say it, but Covid helped our business....cause lots of people had nothing to do, so they started collecting Vinyl again...Last year was the best year we ever had.

I've been to hundreds of concerts over the years...Depeche Mode, The Cure, David Bowie, Ramones, Morrissey, Garbage, Hole, Chris Isaak, Queen(with Freddie Mercury), Siouxsie and the Banshees, Pixies, U2, Oasis and tons more. Better than working a regular job that's for sure.

That’s awesome! Vinyl is definitely back in at the moment. I love owning physical embodiments of art (whether it’s records, movies, games, etc).
