Sorry if it has been already posted. here's  the Greek tema
I think 2 players will be cut

Mantzaris, Sloukas,Pappas,Giannis Antetokoumpo,Thanasis Antetokoumpo,Papapetrou ,Papanikolaou, Printezis, Agravanis, Mitoglou, Mpourousis, Papagiannis, Mpogris, Larentzakis

Koufos. Auguste, Dorsey for different reasons weren't invited

Nope, it hasn't been posted earlier. I'm happy to finally know the preliminary team. I think this is Larentzakis' first appearance with the men's NT. Any thoughts on him?

Hasn't done anything significant ... He was considered a  nice prospect but he never proved it.He bounces around from team to team. I think it's just a body for the practices and maybe they hope they can light his fire again.

But now that i look again at the roster it seems a bit thin on the backcourt.... Papas-Mantzaris-Sloukas and then ???? Papanikolaou maybe as SG and the all around Giannis....

OMG Larentzakis will make the team !

Good question!! I searched a bit and it was a misunderstading from my part and a bit of bad phrasing on the website

Calathes is in but he will join the team in a few days.  Now PG/SG situation looks better

BTW Mirotic will possibly miss the tournament

For Greeks except for Greece666, what's your view on Papagiannis? Imo he can start for Greece and can really produce.

I ve watched him with the junior NTs and he has has nice soft hands and he can finish close to the rim. A bit slow imho.

Before the draft i wanted the Cs to get at the second round maybe end of the first. He was drafted too high. He is not a lottery pick and he won't fulfill the expectations.

I don't know if he ll start for the NT. Depends on where Giannis will play and if Koufos accepts the invitation. (i think the roster hasn't yet been completed). There is also Printezis at PF and Bourousis at C both had great seasons , not easy to be pushed to the bench .....

PS my 100% free-of-Celtics-bias opinion is that Zizic is better
Imo if he produces consistently like he did at the end of last season and gets to average 14-11 in his prime it would have been an ok pick, we usually aren't looking for superstars at 13 lol. But yeah Zizic was a steal.

we are not looking for superstars at 13 unless the Celtics pick there :D

I can see him becoming something like Okur which is not bad but still ... pick no 13?!??!?
It's nice to be 7ft tall........

Lol for every Kobe Bryant there is a Kelly Olynyk (and he's not even the worst at 13),Papa will be fine if he produces a double double every night with good percentages. I mean that's a high level starter, you can't ask much more for a late lottery pick in the rather weak draft.

FIBA's site updated its power rankings.

Spain and Serbia stay at 1 and 2 respectively.
Greece has moved up at 3.
Lithuania has moved up to 4.
France stays at 5. (Rodrigue  Beaubois is out btw)
Turkey stays at 6.
Croatia moved down to 7 (no Zubac, Zizic or Miro Bilan). Basically, the fear is they don't have enough bigs.
Slovenia climbed up to 8 (The site mentions the participation of Erazem Lorbek and Doncic as reasons for the upgrade).

Other notable absences:

Czech Republic: Petr Benda, Pavel Pumprla and Blake Schilb
Ukraine: Alex Len may or may not join

We now have the official confirmation of what Ederson mentioned earlier. Mirotic is out.

Yes, Mirotic is out because he is working on a new contract with the Bulls. And it seems too late to convince Ibaka to play this summer for the NT, so we will have one less weapon "inside" (Mirotic usually plays SF with Spain).

I'm a bit worried because Claver, Rudy Fernández and Ribas, the potential substitutes in this position, are also out. We'll probably start Abrines at the 3 position.

According to the article below, 10 players are sure to participate for Spain:

Ricky Rubio, Abrines, Pau and Marc Gasol, Sergio Llull, Sergio Rodríguez, Juan Carlos Navarro and. Fernando San Emeterio.

Six players players now compete for two more places.  One among Guillem Vives (PG), Joan Sastre (SG/SF) and Xavi Rabaseda (SG/SF) and another among  the following bigs: Sebas Saiz, Ilimane Diop and Pierre Oriola will be selected.

You missed Willy and Juancho Hernangómez  ;)

With Mirotic out, perhaps Rabaseda (pure SF) is gaining options to go, although he is the less talented player of those three. Inside, it doesn't matter, he's not going to play a minute. Maybe Oriola has the edge, as he is very tough and resembles Felipe Reyes in his desire for rebounds and fight for every ball.
