Admittedly I had not heard of this guy until last week when I was scouting around for a long-term project for my keeper roto league.  He'd been completely lighting it up in the D-Backs farm system and had made it up to Tucson - AAA.  Arizona called him up a couple days ago.  He made his debut tonight in early relief.  His first 4 1/3 innings he's struck out 7 and allowed no baserunners!

Since all my good guys have been injured, I;m going to hang my hat on Max Scherzer fever!  Anyone seen this guy pitch?
Yup

absurd hype right now.

strikes out a ton of people.  they say he is an injury risk because of his motion, but i am sure he will do pretty well.  i have heard, for this year your best case scenario is joba chamberlain last year.

he will be a relief pitcher likely this year, provided they dont have more injuries.  i have also heard he is the likely heir apparent in terms of closer for next year.  well see.

i was going to give some false review so that you wouldnt attempt to pick him up in our league, but seeing as how i have the last waiver claim, there is little chance i was get him either.  you at 4 have a good shot.

haha...In all seriousness, I am sure he will have some rough outings, once hitters start recognizing his delivery.  Same thing with Cueto.

He should be good though.

He's a Mizzou boy...gotta love it -- go Tigers!

Sadly, as a Dodger fan, I won't be able to root too hard for the kid on this Arizona team we're chasing.  But a killer first outing for sure.  Solid work, Max.

Way to get on the wagon early, Redz.

Not so hot tonight in his first start.

Looks like a couple of errors didn't help him much, but the Phils pounded him pretty well for 4 innings.

Much better in start #2.  Six shutout innings with 6 K's vs the Cubbies.  Unfortunately Chad Qualls (ironically, and sadly, also on my roto team), came in and completely imploded to blow the win.

I promise I won't make a post for every start of this guy's career ::)

Wow, didn't realize I'd be there in person for his last appearance for the time being!  Hope I'm not Max's jinx  ;)

Tough loss, eh Redz?

How fleeting my love for Max was.  I traded the monor leaguer today in my keeper leaguer so that I could "go for it" this year.  And thus ends my interest in Max Scherzer.

Nah...He'll always keep an eye on him now - even if I'm hoping he fails miserably after I traded him ;)
