I'm sure this has been discussed on here before and the allegations that Jordan was told to retire by the league because of his gambling I always found the story preposterous but I recently watched an interview with Michael Franzese who was a former high ranking Mafia member and he is someone who doesn't have any reason to lie about Jordan's gambling and has nothing to gain from talking about is as it was the interviewer who actually brought it up not Mr Franzese.

Franzese is a habitual liar. He also claims to know the Jimmy Hoffa murderer, the reason behind the JFK assassination, etc.

Definitely something odd about the Jordan retierment.  Didn't Jordan's dad end up dead in a trunk? A very strange story that will probably never be told.

Big checks written out by Jordan to very shady characters in the early 90’s, that’s what we do know.

Here's a clip from Skip Bayless who was the lead sports writer at the Chicago tribune saying that Jordan was forced to retire the first time
