Recently watched movies: Nosferatu by Herzog (beautiful photography), Porco Rosso by Miyazaki (beautiful hand made animation and a smart, imaginative script), it also has Michael Keaton in its english language version.

Btw, I've been watching the "historical" or "semi-historical" (not sure what the right term is ) German TV series Babylon Berlin. They say it's the most expensive series ever made outside the US. Acting and script are top-notch, and they' ve spent lots of money to achieve an accurate historical depiction of the Weimar Republic.  If more ppl here are interested starting a thread seems like a good idea.

Patriots Day. Surprisingly good. The scene when the cops catch up with the two bombers is especially harrowing.

In Bruges on Netflix. Have wanted to watch it for awhile, and jumped at the chance when I came across it. The acting performances are great, and it is a breath of fresh air in the dark comedy genre.

Not a big fun of the genre, but I like the idea it was shot in Bruges. Might give it a shot.

I will warn you, it is very dialogue heavy (dialogue really shines though) and a bit out there in parts.

Jurassic World 2.  A mixed bag. The script at times seemed like it was written by the Sharknado writers and the political jokes missed, but people come for the dinosaurs, and they were entertaining.

My wife and I have been on a Marvel kick lately, so we just got to watch Thor: Ragnarök and Dr. Strange this weekend on Netflix. They both were good, but we both really loved Thor: Ragnarök. Very entertaining with quite a few humorous parts. Ranks right up there with Guardians of the Galaxy 2 for me.

Also watched Deadpool 2 a couple of weekends back. Pretty good, though definitely (and predictably) not as good as the first.

Sharknado had/has writers?

I love that movie. I'm a big Martin McDonagh fan. He's a really interesting writer. I might like In Bruges better than Three Billboards.

My wife and I saw Hereditary. It's the scariest movie I've seen as an adult.

It's hard to talk about the plot but it's about a family going through some really profound grief and then dark, supernatural stuff starts creeping in. It's kind of grueling if you're not a horror fan but it's also a really well made movie and the cast is great.

Last one was Porco Rosso (1992) by Miyazaki.

I found it both entertaining and profound.

After watching it, I wondered how come Miyazaki was so interested in airplane engines. Well, according to Wikipedia, his father was an aeronautical engineer and owned a family firm that had ties with Mitsubishi.

@A Future of Stevens thanks for the warning  ;) I  ll let you know once I watch it.
