Hawks: Kevin Durant

If the Lakers are no longer interested in a Kyrie Irving trade, Brooklyn stand Irving down for the season and let his contact run out. Nets then try and build up the trade value of Ben Simmons by putting the ball in his hands, and running the offence through him.

I think they'd rather want a package with Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart instead of two bigs for KD.

Nets say no

#JTJB (Just Trade Jaylen Brown)
#JFJM (Just Fire Joe Mazzulla)

You mean the package they would never get?

KD helps this team's offense and hurts it's defense. This Celtics team doesn't need better offense and worse defense. Their offense is great. They need a defensive big that can rebound to get back to the Finals. Maybe someone like, oh I don't know, Robert Williams.

Regarding this trade, if the Nets want to be better and get rid of the nightmare, they dump Kyrie, Simmons and Harris for expirings and picks and start over under the cap with KD as the centerpiece while simultaneously tanking.

I think Houston has swap rights with them, so they don't fully own their pick.  But just dumping Kyrie would seemingly make sense.

I wonder if the Lakers would bail them out with Westbrook for Irving.  Irving + Harris for Westbrook + Nunn works financially.  Even if the Lakers just told Irving to stay home, I think Harris upgrades them a bit.  Nets clear off the headache that is Irving, clear Harris next year, and can tank the year whether they trade Simmons or not.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
