Holy crap.  That's awful news.

I remember being super excited as a kid when they drafted him.  I even have a Montross Celtics jersey. 

Way too young.

I remember watching him when I was in high school when he played for the Tar Heels when they beat the Fab Five in Webber's timeout game and being excited when the Cs drafted him. RIP.

I was super excited when we drafted Montross, thinking he was the next All-Star big man. Then, I was excited about the couple of first-round picks, trading him gave us. We got the 6th pick in the 1996 and 1997 drafts by trading Montross. We significantly increased our odds in that Duncan draft through that trade. Montross never reached his full potential, as he just couldn't stay healthy. Really unfortunate. Gone too soon.

Rest in peace, Eric Montross.
