What caused so many problems for Giannis is the way Horford, Baynes, Morris, Tatum and Brown sealed the paint against Giannis by stretching their arms out to the point of almost touching each other. Wherever Giannis tried to penetrate, he had to attempt to go through at minimum two guys with perfect defensive positioning that just swarmed him. In the 2nd half it was obvious Giannis had no answer for what the C's were doing to him. On a couple drives he looked as lost as Jaylen Brown used to when he went into a blocked off paint his rookie year.

It's been a year since the Celtics eliminated the Bucks in the playoffs, with a mighty Scary Terry Game 7 highlight.

I didn't watch the game. Can someone be bothered putting up a detailed analysis of each player's game?

Also, I want to know about our defense. Milwaukee shot horribly, but did they miss a lot of open shots? Only 9 turnovers for Milwaukee, so it wasn't exactly half-court defense that did the trick.

I note the rebounding disparity. How was Giannis neutralized on defense?
They missed some open shots, but I'd say it was a normal amount. They also hit some very contested threes (2 by Middleton and 2 by Mirotic), so it evens out. Giannis also hit 2 or 3 triples . Our defense was absolutely superb, we completely walled off Giannis. On one sequence Al had 2 blocks on him. On offense we played very smart, even Morris and Rozier, we got very good shots. Kyrie and Al had a perfect pick and pop game, leaving Al open a handful of times. Tatum was very quiet offensively, but good on defense. Hayward was getting good shots at will and hitting them. I have to say that apart from some contested fadeaways, Kyrie seemed to have a quiet game, but then I checked his stats - 26/7/11 or something like that. He's beasting it, and playing very smart basketball. This really is a completely different team.

I have a feeling that Brad told Tatum that he will decrease his touches this series, in favor of Al. I feel like he wanted to establish him early and often. He is the key of this series, on both ends.

If you're the Bucks, what adjustments do you make for game 2?

I would start Hill and Mirotic instead of Bledsoe and Lopez. Hill did a great job out there for them and Mirotic kept them in the game for a while, adding more shooting around Giannis. Bledsoe and Lopez off the bench could be better matchups for their second unit as well.

If they go with the 'let's put all our hope on Brogdon returning' plan and lose game 2, they are done.

Changing their starting lineup after their first loss of the postseason seems like a drastic overreaction and a panic move. Maybe change up the rotation patterns, get some more minutes for Mirotic.

Naw, there’s enough evidence from both the regular season and now this game that Lopez is a huge mismatch against Horford. I think you have to start Mirotic there instead to give you more shooting and take away some of that mismatch.

That said, it may open up the lane more for penetration, along with giving another iso mismatch opportunity for Kyrie to exploit. So it’s a pros and cons thing.

But Mirotic can't defend the pick & roll either, that's why Bud only played him 21 minutes despite the boost they got from his shooting.

Not sure if you saw the stat, but it was Giannis' worst shooting game of the ENTIRE SEASON.

Edit: Simply meaning that they did do an awesome job of defending him. Gotta keep it up.

Besides just Giannis, everyone else on the Bucks not named Mirotic had an atrocious day shooting. Was Game 1 the Bucks’ worst possible game? Can we play any better than we did?
