off the cuff some Irving trades that in theory make sense

Irving for Paul, Crowder

Irving, Mills for Westbrook, the picks

Irving for Powell, Covington, Coffey

Irving for Russell

Irving for Hardaway, Bertans, 1st

Good ideas mo. I could see Minnesota, Phoenix or Dallas deal happening. Dallas actually seems perhaps most likely cause they are a little desperate to get luka a sidekick.

Two poor defenders at the same position.

Yeah, that seems like an awful fit. Two high usage, ball dominant guards who are poor defensively.

Shams saying Phoenix, Dallas and Lakers are the three frontrunners for Kyrie

I think Phoenix is interesting. Replace CP3 with Kyrie, package Crowder away in that as well and take your chances with that. Meanwhile the Nets can still try to contend with CP3, Durant and Simmons I guess (and Crowder added to the fold)

Chris Paul is toast. No thx.

OK, I will buy that the Suns are a possibility.  It works straight up:

Kyrie
for
Paul and Crowder

Adds about $2M to Nets cap.  They could send back some min level player if they wanted to make the money work to not add salary.

Could Chris Paul continue playing for 3 more years and then retire with Durant?

Not sure the Lakers can beat that trade.
Bkln would need 2 first round picks, one for giving up Kyrie, the other for taking on worthless Chris Paul.

My guess is

Irving and Morris to the suns

Paul, Crowder, and 2 2nds to the Nets

The seconds are compensation for taking in Paul’s longer term deal

In the off season Irving is then sign and traded to Lakers for Westbrook and a heavy protected 1st or multiple 2nds.  Chris Paul retires and Kevin Durant is traded putting the Nets into a rebuild. Could see Durant joining Dame in Portland.

No because Westbrook will be free agent.

You are correct I’m not sure why I thought he had one more year on his deal. Still think Irving finds his way to Lakers.

Because it would be funny and also not terrible kn the floor for the Nets

Irving, Mills for Rozier, Hayward
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

We'll see, but I really don't see a scenario where Kyrie is traded AND Durant stays with BKN. Feels like if Kyrie is traded, Durant will also want out. Because who is BKN getting back that would entice Durant to still play with Simmons and the acquisition? Westbrook? CP3? Idk.

I'm also not that sure there's significant interest in Kyrie. Feels like Stein, Shams, Woj are trying to create a market for Kyrie and help his team/agent. But it takes two sides to make a deal. I'm sure LAL, MIN, DAL and PHO are interested but not to the extent that they'd give up a premium to acquire him

Greg Anthony and Steve Smith on NBA TV acting sympathetic toward Kyrie and not putting much blame on him.

Ridiculous. Kyrie has committed to resigning or not leaving every single team he’s been on, only to go back on his word and ask out or leave in free agency. Dude is a flake, and he’s the absolute biggest reason for most of Brooklyn’s controversy over the past few years.

Yep.  I’m not much for Stephen A. Smith, but he wasted no time in ridiculing Kyrie, because he’s completely unreliable.

He is. Which makes me wonder why someone would even want him tbh. Kyrie is also pretty much asking for a team to give him a 4/200M contract. Anyone who gives him that better hope they have some Plan B in place lol  :P

Hindsight is 20:20 and alll... but

Imagine picking Kyrie Irving over James Harden.

Imagine picking Ben Simmons over Jimmy Butler.

Imagine picking Ben Simmons over James Harden.

Imagine picking Ben Simmons over a mop with a beach ball at the top and a face drawn on the beach ball.

Imagine picking a mop with a beach ball at the top and a face drawn on the beach ball over Kyrie Irving.
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

I wonder if Ainge would sign up for the Kyrie experience again.  An offer like Conley and Clarkson for Kyrie.   Gives the Nets two players for this season if they want to salvage it.  The Jazz can move the $14 million they owe Conley next year, and either sign back up for more Kyrie or sign-and-trade him to someone else who might be interested, thus acquiring more assets (because there aren’t many teams with the cap space Irving would seek).

If Kyrie breaks everything they get the lotto pick they seek.  If he works out, they put up a fight in the West for a round or two.
