I’m good with signing Kabengele right now to at least something partially guaranteed to compete with Kornet for that last roster spot, if not something more.  He’s going to be on an NBA roster again with someone before long.

Can someone explain to me what Kornet does well? Not even well, but average. Dudes going to be 27 this month. Let’s roll the dice on someone else, please.

I can’t explain to you what Kornet does well, but I do know I’m watching Kabengele against summer leaguers, and I’d like to see him in training camp before counting on him too much.  He’s also 25 in a month, so he’s not some young prospect.

He sits on the bench very well he is good at that.   The signing was mystifying  and bewildering.

Well…he kinda looks like a basketball player … ;D

At this point I’d prefer Ryan and Kabengele as the 13th/14th roster spots rather than Davison and Begarin. Those second round picks are sunk costs. Ryan and Kabengele could eventually develop into rotational players. Not wise to let them walk just because we sunk 2nds into the other two, who look athletic but that’s only part of the equation.

The only thing that could have made that game more bizarre is if the Bucks had scored on that heave.

It really is remarkable how often I disagree with you.

But I'd like to have both. Pretty sure Davison is already on a two-way so the point is moot. There's room for all of them.

I feel like Hauser plays basketball more as a basketball player that can shoot. Ryan plays like a shooter. I love how many threes he gets up. That's an NBA skill.

Begarin is an NBA player. He's young, but I really like what I'm seeing from him and his growth from last year.

I'm still not seeing much of Kabengele that makes me think he's anything more than a garbage time big man. He has a very limited feel for setting up our guards in the DHO game. He didn't do a great job defending the rim this game (the whole defense was lousy though).

Kornet has always ranked above average-to-good as a pick-and-roll defender. That's a legit NBA skill. His size also allows him to make an impact around the basket.

What games are you watching?

His DRTG was    106.9 and he has a career average of 110.

He looks pretty mediocre across the board.  59%  DFG%. Name: Field Goals Defended at Rim Percen

I think his strength is as a floor spacer on offense, defensively your reaching.   This was his scouting report.

Quote
Drawbacks: Kornet may fit offensively as a stretch five with a decent feel for the game, but he's quite immobile on the defensive end, struggling to guard pick and roll even in drop situations and leaving much to be desired on the defensive glass. The 7-footer struggles with grit and physicality in traffic, averaging only 6.0 defensive rebounds per 40 minutes, the third worst among centers in the DraftExpress Top 100. Although Kornet was a fairly effective rim protector in the SEC, his average mobility and leaping ability figure to limit him as a defensive anchor in the NBA. - Source: https://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Luke-Kornet-78500/ ©DraftExpress

I get you may like the guy and that is your right.   I root for all our guys during games.  But I for one would like to see these PNR defensive stats. Please post those pick and roll stats for us to see with his NBA wide rating.

Kabengele has been the best player on the SL team thus far. He clearly has more upside than Kornet.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

It's actually hard to assess what Kornet does well because he hasn't played much. That's why it was head scratching that they guaranteed him anything in terms of money.

He's looked OK in garbage time and at one point he was considered a pretty decent 3 pt shooter for his size but his G-League numbers there are nothing to write home about.

You have to assume that because they're watching him on a daily basis he must have been holding his own in practice vs the likes of Rob, Horford, Grant and Theis when he was here.
