Obviously there is big risk here but he would fit our team perfectly (size/defense/passer)

I hve no idea what his salary is or how much it would take to get him but this could help Brooklyn in facilitating the KD Ayton deal. What do you all think?

Easy Pass, the guy has zero heart and really does not care about basketball.

Buy low, sell high. Simmons' price should be at an all-time low right now. Wouldn't be against it for the right price.

I would honestly love Ben Simmons, but I can’t imagine BKN is fed up enough to deal him for White and Theis. And I don’t think they are even necessarily fed up with him at all. I maybe crazy, but I feel like he is one of the most misunderstood guys in the whole NBA.

If it it White, Theis, Nesmith/Pritchard, and 2 or 3 1st's to get him, I think you have to do it.  He'd be great as the long term PF and small ball C, though would probably mean you'd look at moving Rob or Smart for a much better shooter as 3 non-shooters would be tough.

I know nothing about caps and taxes but I heard something to the effect that it would be extremely tough for the Nets to acquire Ayton for KD unless they could somehow move Simmons. So is Ayton more important long-term than the Simmons that hasn't played for them yet?

They need to move Simmons or Irving, but not both (obviously that assumes Durant goes to Phoenix for Ayton and Bridges or other pieces) to reasonably be able to do it.

I think they will figure something out to get it done if they want to.  They will find a way to send Irving to the Lakers with a 3rd team taking Westbrook and it will somehow happen.

Call me crazy, but I would consider it. BUT it would have to be for something like White, Theis and picks/additional smaller assets. That's it.

You don't even consider giving up any of Smart or our other starters in any trade package.

You can’t buy low. He makes $35M+ per year. He would cost the C’s significant pieces just to match salaries.

Ben may be even more of a head case this season than last. I would not touch Ben Simmons at this point. The Sixers could barely trade him last season.  I certainly hope the Celtics don’t bail them out.

Why do some think Simmons would play as a small ball center? I keep seeing it mentioned over and over again.

Simmons only wants to be a passing guard. He barely wants to do that. He has zero interest in constantly getting elbowed playing center. He has to protect that pretty face after all.

Sure, he has the height and he can pass and play defense. That sounds like Draymond initiating the offense from the center position. Simmons doesn’t play like that. He brings the ball up. He wants to be Magic, not Draymond.

Playing him inside on offense keeps him away from the perimeter where he would be standing around not shooting 3s, but he likes to play face up, not back to the hoop. He’s going to get fouled more often and miss his attempts.

He’s physically capable of playing center. It might be in a teams best interest to use him as a center. Simmons isn’t going to step on the court to play center.

Chances are we have a different opinion on what constitutes low value for Simmons. White + Timelord + Theis gets it done, salary-wise. It would suck to lose Timelord, but he'd be a terrible fit next to Simmons on the offensive side of the ball. We'd have to trade him in a different deal anyway.
