Dr. Bryan Kelly is one of the most well-respected hip specialists in the world. He literally treats hundreds of labral tears a year for athletes at all levels. If he says Isaiah doesn't need surgery, I don't see why we should disregard that for an internet diagnosis.
He can say that IT doesnt need surgery while also agreeing that he will deal with pain and inflammation for the rest of his career. It's supposed to be a pretty risky surgery with a distressingly low percentage of athletes reporting a full recovery afterwords.
The doctor and Thomas decided that no surgery would be the better path because with the proper rest and treatment he has a chance to manage the injury in a manner that allows him to perform well on the court over the next several years.
That Labrum is still torn tho and it will be for the rest of his career.
