Charlotte Hornets

Coach: Steve Clifford

F- Andrew Bogut
F- Al Horford
F- Chandler Parsons
G- JR Smith
G- Mike Conley Jr

6th Man- Tyler Johnson

I dunno, I really like this team.

Just missing a good combo forward so you can get Horford some more time at the 5 (not hard since Bogut is such a short minute guy nowadays).

Parsons is actually pretty good as a small ball 4 if Horford needs minutes at the 5.

Not on the boards. Especially since Charlotte is pretty small with their guard rotation already.

Well, Parsons averaged the same number of defensive rebounds per game (4.2 DRPG) as guys like Gallinari, Marcus Morris, Harrison Barnes, ect..  So he's not totally devoid of that ability. He just offers next to nothing on the offensive glass.

Other than Shabazz, who I thought was a bit of a reach, I really like this team.

Plenty of spacing for Kyrie to do his thing, and the Drummond/Morris pairing is very stout as a defensive small ball unit.

I might look for a bit of a more traditional PF to match up with bigger front courts, and a bit more play making on the wings, though.  As is, I think you're probably a lock for a playoff spot, at the moment.

I  think Parsons works as a small-ball 4 next to a paint behemoth, but next to Horford and a bunch of small guards, I think it opens up too many problems on the defensive glass while completely waving the white flag on the glass on the other end.

Obviously there are offensive advantages that might make it worth it, but a combo forward with a bit more beef or hustle I think would bring that group together better.

I like it until Rose. The size 2-5 is pretty remarkable - very intimidating on both ends. But I think Rose actively makes his teams worse by sucking possessions away from more efficient teammates and playing poor defense. As a 6th man he might be salvageable, but I'd keep him away from your starters.

What do ya'll think? I tried getting a better Center, but I shouldn't have missed my pick. Overall I think Henson does what I want though, Shot blocker, good PnR defender, athletic. I was going for Capela.

Fair enough.  I don't quite see it that way, rebounding seems to correlate with winning less and less in the NBA with each passing year.

That said, it's not like I intend on ignoring the matter either.  But if the biggest criticism of my team is rebounding when I'm going small, I can live with that.

TP for your thoughts!

Love the defense on from the wings. KCP relieves Lillard vs elite PG's himself. Henson should do a fine enough job protecting the paint and not have to worry about offensive production with Lillard and Kawhi being able to carry the load.

Love this team. Great job.

I'm with Snively, Derrick Rose just really....ugh....IDK.

He just hasn't adjusted his game to his lack of explosiveness to stay effective.  It's like he refuses to accept reality.  Take a guy like Wade, he's accepted his athleticism is gone and developed that "old man" game, and as a result is still a very effective player even in his advanced age.  Rose needs a new bag of tricks or he won't be around much longer.

But don't worry Yoki, 2-5 that is an excellent lineup.  Maybe seek out a trade or try to find a PG in the next round, if there are any decent one's left.

Yeah, the Rose defensive issues needs to be addressed in the next few rounds, but as far as sucking possessions, I think this is a team in which he could do it once in a while and not have a worry.

Outside of Karl-Anthony Towns, the rest of the team aren't ball dominant players, and don't need to be ball dominant to be effective. He can be high usage on this team and not have a dropoff in production with the rest of the team.

He did average 16 a game this year, three times he dropped 30 or more, on a team in which the fit is just horrible for both him and Jimmy Butler. He averaged 21.9 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists on 44% shooting in March last year, and looked like the Rose of old.

We can say this is a better fit team for his style, even though that style has lost half a step. The D-Rose is still there, maybe not as explosive, but it's still there. The fit on last year's RL Bulls was just horrible for him, having a teammate who pretty much plays the same style as him. Not on this team, where's he's surrounded by shooters and a big man who doesn't pound the ball fro 5-7 seconds to be effective.
