Really like the two combo forwards I'm going to start at the 3 and 4 in Aaron Gordon and Jabari Parker. I think both have super star upside. Gordon can take the more difficult match up on defense and help cover up for Jabari's d.

Thoughts on my team so far? I have 3 4ths tomorrow, that should help fill out my roster.

So, as of this moment you have Klay, Parker and Gordon?  With three picks tomorrow?

That's a very solid foundation.  Should be a good team for a long time.  Probably not quite ready for the big stage right yet, but with some good picks next round you'll be right in the mix for the playoffs.

TP to Celts Fan 508 for hooking me up so I could sneak in some family time this afternoon.

Trying to build this roster has been a challenge for me since I inherited Mike Malone as a coach (Was he really the first coach selected?). He definately runs a style I, as a fan, do not enjoy however my job as GM is to get the players to match his coaching style.

Spent a lot of time since taking over Denver watching Mike Malone's teams play from youtube videos. I'm 173% certain I have 0 idea who his protypical point guard would be.

It was a missed pick. I think Mike Malone was the last coach picked which I was surprised at. I had him in the late teens. I don't think he has a single style. He seems adaptable in his systems and to his players. He had success with Isaiah Thomas at PG in Sacramento. Then Darren Collison. I thought he handled Mudiay (a raw talent) well last year. All three guys quite different from one another. I'd say you have a lot of flexibility in what type of team / system & players you select.

C: Jonas Valanciunas

Solid young team with talent. I'm probably not doing a good service for Towns putting him at PF, but Valanciunas' rebounding, toughness and physicality is too much to pass.

I think Bradley is way underrated by even Celtics fans. I had him top 4 on my big board when you made your pick. AB would be a great starting SG on a championship team that already has an Alpha go to scorer.

The argument that he's undersized for the 2 is hogwash. Top defensive guard in the league (even before last season) who has 0 issue getting his shot off with a man in his grill. There are so many little things about Avery's game while watching tape of him it makes me giddy. My biggest beef with him is he doesn't have the tightest handle.
ok fine

I think going big like that in today's day and age is a bad idea. I guess if everyone in your lineup besides Val can shoot it will be ok. But having two 7 footers can really gum up spacing and make you slow on close outs imo.

Watching the Celtics last year really reinforced my feeling that teams are most successful when they have no more than one guy who can't shoot/create off the dribble on the floor at a time.

Yeah. But Towns is quick enough to play PF I think were solid defensively.

For sure I still need some sort of a stretch 4, but I could start with this lineup and stagger the positions.

Trade Announcement

Cavs trade D'Angelo Russell, 13.17, and 13.22

Nets trade 4.23, 5.24, and 7.8

Slight overpay on my part, but Russell is going to be good. The 2nd half of his rookie year showed serious potential.

Fun group. I like the interchangeability of those 3 guys -- Klay, Jabari and A.Gordon.

They mesh nicely together. Klay as the sharpshooter and scorer. Jabari offers more of an isolation threat when needed. More of a physical power 3. Aaron Gordon is a glue guy forward who does all the other things. One of the top young defensive players in the league. I think they will combine very well with one another.
