I remember a while back before the Gasol trade Grizz did want that pick conveyed this year if possible.

They do but they also already shut down Jaren Jackson Jr., and Conley might be seeing reduced minutes or rest days soon. Already had a rest day this past week.

They’re still often collapsing with the lead in crunch time, so no better than 8th worst record (30% chance of conveying, as listed by OP) IMO. #9 Charlotte has 29 wins, #10 has 30.

Conley just played a team high 35 minutes and scored 40 points to beat Portland and was in the game in crunch time. Not seeing evidence as of now of them limiting his minutes. They are very close to being able to give their pick away, trading conley this offseason and doing a hard tank next year to get someone to pair with jackson (and whatever they get for conley). That seems like a much smoother path...

if we trade for AD, all picks will likely be gone.

if no AD, Memphis highly unlikely to convey.   C's looking at 14, 18, 23.   not any great prospects but a good incentive to consolidate at least 2 of them to move up a few slots to get a replacement for Rozier or Morris.

You’re right but they seem a bit late to realize this, no?

No I think they realize it and have been playing very hard. This is why they are 6-7 their last 13 games despite having a very low level of talent without gasol, green, and jackson.

That would suck if they all convey.

The only one we don’t want is Memphis. Next year, Clippers in all likelihood will either get stronger by adding a max free agent or two, or they will miss the playoffs. So getting a pick in the late teens is probably the best we are going to do.

Still holding out hope Sacramento can drop down a few pegs and get closer to ~10, but their remaining schedule doesn’t look too tough and they got a competitive squad.

I just wouldn't be surprised to see them to start having him play low 20s once they're officially eliminated from playoff contention. Or at least sit out a few SEGABABA (3 remaining).

Plus, they're really 4 games back from #9 since Charlotte holds the H2H 2-0 with 16 games to go.

Some tough games left along with cupcakes: GSW x2, Jazz, HOU, POR, OKC, Clippers.
Coin flip games: MIN, DET, ORL x2
Awful teams: WAS, DAL x2, ATL, PHO

Also, they still have inexplicable losses sprinkled in between good wins. That OKC game 3/3 was an awful choke, typical of their season. Loss 2/27 vs. CHI was also a horrible display of ugly offense. Hard to see them winning enough to overtake ... the CLE loss 2/23 was one of the worst games I've watched this year.

8th and 30% is likely, 9th looks extremely unlikely IMO

Give them all up for Davis. Everyone and everything must go like an out of business sale.

You can even send me packing to New Orleans, though that probably won't fetch much.

I haven't looked at their cap situation but sometimes that motivates franchises to make the playoffs in the hopes it show's fAs its a good franchise.

The thing with the Grizzlies pick is even if they finish 7 or 8 all it takes 1 or 2 teams to jump past them in the lottery which could happen with flatter odds this year.  I feel much better if they finish at 6th worst which would mean 3 teams need to jump past them in the lottery.

What the heck do we do if we get all 4 picks and can't swing a trade.  Sure we probably lose Morris and one of Kyrie/Rozier, but the thought of carrying 4 rookies on the roster next year is not a very palatable one.

If they simply could not find a trade (whether pick and trade after, package picks for a higher pick, trade for future draft picks) they’d likely just draft a Euro or two and stash them for a couple years.

You could always trade for picks in coming years. Draft stash players, or identify a player you really like and move up to get him.

Yep and we already have an open roster spot now, and we can easily use Wannamaker’s spot as well, and maybe we work something out we bring back at least one of Morris and Rozier.

The draft and stash strategy is there, but you are kind of restricting the talent level you can choose from.  The player has to agree to stay oversees.  This is how we ended up with Yabu at 16.  Ainge needed someone who would agree not to come over so we could maintain max cap space.

The only way I'd be happy with the Grizz' pick conveying this year is if they are 8th and it conveys because Sacto miraculously jumps up to 2 or 3.  :D
