Amazing how bad our luck is with these picks. The Kings decide to not be a dumpster fire the one season we have their pick, than they go back to sucking. The same thing will probably happen with Memphis. Watch lol.
That happens when you fire an excellent coach for no reason and then hire a crappy coach to replace him.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Since there’s been a lot of doom and gloom about the pick (and I’ve spread my share) I wanted to say the Pelicans nuked the Grizzlies tonight, 139-111!

Yeah, the Trailblazers are going to overtake the Grizzlies soon in the standings, since Lillard is unstoppable and there's a big difference in played home games and away games (Grizzlies have played 27 at home, 23 away, while Trailblazers 23h - 28a). With two quality teams (Pelicans and Spurs) chasing them as well they could fall to like #12 in the lottery.
Still disappointing though.

Management wants Bagley to be a star, so they don't look bad by not drafting Doncic. It's foolish. Joerger saw that Bagley wasn't ready and brought him from the bench (still playing regular minutes though), but Bagley didn't like that and I believe that was the primary reason he got fired. Joerger wanted to create a competitive culture and develop the youngsters, who weren't ready, gradually. Management wanted full commitment to the youth.

Because of that last reason I find the Kings a good trading partner for the Celtics as they have some very servicable role players (like Bjelica and Holmes), while the Celtics have an abundance of rookies and draft picks.

Portland (23-27) or San Antonio (22-26) needs to step it up for that #8 seed. Maybe even New Orleans (20-29) if they surge after the break. Doubt Phoenix (20-28) and Sacramento (18-31) will make a run.

Agreed with the bolded. I'd like to see us aim for Bogdan though, the Kings rate him quite highly but might be open to letting him go due to his contract expiring this summer.

They were 13 and 4 in their last 17 games before that. Memphis will cool off.

They have Detroit next up, and then no bottom feeders (except Sacto, who are themselves coming into some form and players back from injury)) until March.

Yeah, I expect both the Trailblazers and the Spurs to overtake Memphis before the end of the season. New Orleans might as well.

Because of course Memphis play Dallas without Doncic.

We really can't get a break with this pick

agreed - I expected SA and Portland to be much better than they have been so far this year.  Sac too.  I could see SA, Portland and NO making the push for that last playoff spot.  SA and Portland aren't rebuilding teams so a late lottery pick isn't much better than the picks just outside the lottery.  NO looks like a real handful with Zion playing - I wouldn't rule them out for that last spot either

By opponent winning percentage, Memphis has the hardest remaining schedule in the league post-All-Star break.  In addition, they play 16 of 28 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Blazers have the 6th easiest schedule, and the Pelicans the easiest.  The Blazers play 15 of their final 26 at home, while the Pels have a pretty even home/road split (14 road, 13 home).

The Spurs have the 11th-easiest schedule, and are slightly home-heavy (15 home, 13 road).

The pick looks like it will convey (boo!), and won’t be as good as we had hoped, but it could improve by 3-6 slots before the year is done.

Yeah, their run home is really really rough. Also seems to me that rookies often fizzle out a little bit when their workload is so heavy (like it is for Morant & Clarke).

Let’s hope they completely crumble and lose 20+ in a row!

What if they miss out again this year on the playoffs bit somehow miraculously jumps again in the Lottery... Gulp.

We will get the crappie Slot next year. 😕🤔
