Boston Celtics All-Star @GordonHayward has agreed to a 4-year footwear & apparel offer sheet with Anta.

The massive shoe deal also includes a signature apparel collection and marketing throughout Asia and the US. Nike will have 10 business days to exercise their “match clause.”

Smart man. China is a big economy and has many nba fans. They were probably the biggest offer but also it makes sense

Wonder how massive a deal this is that Nike won’t match.

I know they have gone the controversial route recently, but would make for good publicity to see a guy coming back from an injury like that to regain his all-star form while everyone is looking at his feet, and their Check.

It doesn't have to be that massive. Nike doesn't give "huge" annual payouts to their signature athletes not named Lebron James and Kevin Durant. Kyrie's deal with Nike is around $8m per year and Paul George is around $5-6m per year (comparatively, Derrick Rose, James Harden and Damian Lillard make more with Adidas). My guess is that the signature sneaker aspect of the deal is likely what caused Nike to balk. There's no way they would've given Gordon a signature sneaker. This is the company that lost James Harden because they wouldn't give him a signature line.

So are Anta shoes any good?

In my opinion, Klay Thompson had one of the best NBA sneakers last year.
