Curry and klay played bad because of our defense. Rozier was all over curry
Everyone on the Celtics was great defensively. I thought Rozier, Smart and Irving all did a great job of hounding Curry and Brown and Smart also did a great job chasing Klay around the court.

However, GSW also did a really nice job bothering Kyrie. Cant have it both ways.

Either you acknowledge that Irving, Thompson and Curry all had off days or you attribute all of it to defense.

If IT4 was starting in place of Kyrie, We'd best get blown out for sure.

I was surprised about our willingness to switch pick and roll D which left Kyrie on Durant three times.. Kyrie did quite well though..

If you had told me that we would beat the Warriors shooting 32.9% from the field and 21.9% from the three point line, I would fell out laughing out of my chair.   But it is exactly what we did!

Quote
Boston's second-year forward was not even thinking about basketball after learning about the sudden death of his childhood best friend, Trevin Steede, on Wednesday night.

"It was tough to kind of accept it," Brown said. "Everybody was kind of in shock."

But after talking to his family and having conversations with Celtics coach Brad Stevens, Brown looked to the basketball court to find solace. The 21-year-old ended up playing one of the best games of his young career

Brown playing this well in light of learning of the death of a child-hood friend the same night shows he has some real mental toughness.

I would like to thank the NBA script writers and the officials for allowing the style of play that enabled us to have a fighting chance to squeak out a win against a better team on our home court.

They let us get away with fouls all over. No superstar calls for the Warriors in this one for sure. Meanwhile the W's guards got in foul trouble.

I'm not saying it was outright a David Stern-style WWE scripted game, but if they called half of the hand checks, we lose by 15. If their stars get the benefit of the doubt calls that stars usually get on top of that, we lose by 25+.

That said, I like the more physical game, with less quick trigger chucking, much better than the games where you can't play defense and the final score is 135-129 or something.

I didn't see any large number of calls going purely our way.  Per usual missed calls on both ends.  I liked that BOTH teams played great defense.  Not sure how a 7 game series (ahem) would come out but we match up very nicely with their team and yes it's without gordon

I think reasonable observers do not think that game was evenly refereed. The Cs were beneficiaries of many calls, especially with Kyrie during the end of the game. He played awfully and the refs bailed him out many times in the 4th quarter. If the refs had treated the Ws like that, we would have lost by 20.

Still, a win is a win.

so.....we finally get ONE star call last night ....for Kyrie ....i can't remember any like it  since KG and Pierce glory days

We finally got a star .....we get one star type call ,  waited 8 years ......while LeWhiner gets 6 of these per game the past 12 years.,  pushing off ,  fouling like crazy , touch him its a foul.  KD and others get them every game, lots .

Yet ......its not fair ,  because we finally have a star and get our ONE NBA love call our way.

We earned that call.

The refs were fair. If the refs see Durant step on a line, that doesn’t mean we are beneficiaries. It means we’re playing defense and forcing  the warriors into uncomfortable spots

The only obvious call they missed was Jaylen getting no ball - only hand - on a 1st half Klay Thompson lay-up block.

The call at the end had a little contact - Kyrie took it into three Warriors players and hands were flying around. It wasn't egregious, but it isn't so surprising that there was a call.

We never got those calls in the Pierce-KG glory days either! It was great to finally get one with Kyrie.

Disagree.  Kyrie went into traffic a lot at the end and was rewarded with calls.  The Warriors stayed back and took jump shots.  Look at the shot chart in the 4th — the Celtics had 8 shots in the restricted area, and that doesn’t include the missed attempts that resulted in foul shots.  The Warriors had 2 attempts.  In the 3rd quarter, it was 5-1 Celtics in the restricted area.  That’s 13-3 in official shot attempts for the C’s in the second half.

Were there a couple of incorrect calls?  It’s the NBA, so undoubtedly.  But the Celtics were attempting a lot of shots in the area on the floor where you’re more likely to get fouled, and the Warriors were not.  And accordingly, they got to the line.
