So does anyone know what's going on with Beal besides he and his wife's tweets?
I don't think so.

Not sure how accurate this is

ESPN Sources: After medical consultation, seven-time All-Star F LaMarcus Aldridge is seriously considering a return to the NBA this season. Aldridge retired with Brooklyn in mid-April with heart concerns, but is exploring the possibility of resuming his 15-year career.

This is like a mirror image of how Chris Bosh ended his career. Tried to make a comeback, but no team was willing to take that risk. Chris Bosh was still an All-Star when he got unwell though

If the Nets are going to win a title, it would be nice to have a couple of likable guys on there (Mills, LMA).

But, if LMA wants to play for his good friend Ime, I wouldn’t object.

If Boston knew they could get Beal now in a trade, how does not signing Evan Fournier aid that?

One Evan Fournier around to help rebuild a decimated supporting cast is better than zero Evan Fournier. Plus, he'd be a trade asset to get a PG or a big man to rebalance the squad if necessary.

Could be Stevens wasn't prepared for that possibility, or it could be that Washington told him they didn't want Fournier.

Until Fournier signs with the Knicks, we can negotiate a sign-and-trade with them, where we send the Knicks a pick and we get to use Fournier’s outgoing salary as part of a trade for Beal.  Whereas had we signed Fournier, we could not trade him to Washington until January.

And $18m TPE wouldn't be big enough to absorb Beal and we can't combin it with other salaries to match Beal's money. It could be useful in taking back a big contract off Washington's books to aid a Washington trade - say absorbing the rest of Bertan's contract.

It’s not a TPE.  It’s a 3-team deal where we send the Knicks Fournier and compensation for helping, the Wizards prospects and picks, and we get Beal.  If we combine it with the Sac-Hawks trade, we can use Thompson’s outgoing salary as well.

Oh okay, so we're fantasizing. Sure, you could structure a deal around a hypothetical Fournier sign and trade by combining it with the Sacramento trade. But keep in mind you have to also incentivize the Knicks to play ball because they don't need us to sign Fournier and they're likely not interested in helping a division rival. If I'm the Knicks I'm asking for no less than an unprotected 1st to come to the table like Brooklyn did when we tried to engage them on a sign and trade for Kyrie and then that's one less pick to send to Washington. And if I'm the Knicks, I'm honestly asking for more - like a Derozan Spurs package - because I know the Celtics aren't negotiating from a position of strength. We're not exactly overflowing with assets anymore.

With that said, there's been zero indication that Beal is currently available or that Washington is even willing to take calls for him so this is all a moot point.

NBA Central
@ThNBACentral
1h
Bradley Beal heard that a few teams would be interested in him next offseason.

“I been heard Charlotte, Boston, Miami, and Golden State.  Preferably, if I had to choose one, I think I’d go with Boston”

(h/t) @ZachLowe_NBA

That’s not the real NBA Central account. Notice the missing “e” in “ThNBACentral”.

The Spencer Dinwiddie trade is being combined  with the Westbrook trade.

Quote
The Washington Wizards have acquired Spencer Dinwiddie from the Brooklyn Nets as part of a five-team trade. Dinwiddie will sign a three-year, $62 million contract. The trade also includes the Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs.

Brooklyn will receive a 2024 second round pick, a 2025 second round and an $11.5 million trade exception.

The Spurs will receive Chander Hutchison and a 2022 second rounder.

The Lakers will receive Russell Westbrook while sending Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell to the Wizards. Washington traded No. 22 from the Lakers to the Pacers for Aaron Holiday and No. 31.

Why was San Antonio even involved in this? Who did they give up? Wizards got a haul but is now loaded with guards. They’ll probably do more moves to balance the roster?

San Antonio have been involved in so many moves, and I've maybe liked one of them (getting assets out of DeRozan walking). Really weird free agency for them, after a weird draft too

They got Chandler Hutchison from Washington.  Haven’t done the math, but Washington may have needed to send out a little more salary to take on Dinwiddie’s contract.

Think it got mentioned in the official signings thread. He was terrible last year after his injury. Shame, as he was looking to have secured a role in the NBA for ages. Good chance to recapture it in Milwaukee
