Who are the 5 best NBA players in 2023?

I got Giannis Antetokounmpo (28), Jayson Tatum (25), Anthony Davis (30), Kevin Durant (34), Karl Towns (27)

Harden (33), Simmons (27), Porzingiz (27) are all honorable mentions.

It’s completely possible that someone who hasn’t been drafted yet makes it but I seriously doubt it considering how long t takes players to develope now a days.

39 year old Lebrun may even be a dark horse to make the list..

I would sub in Jokic and maybe Embiid for the last 2 on your list. I don't think Durant will age as well as LBJ did, and I don't think that highly of Towns. He can't or won't play D.

I think Embiid belongs in the list. Probably higher than Porzingis

I guess I just have no faith in that guy staying healthy enough to be top 5.

Cannot think of a top 5. I've got a top 3 instead: Simmons, Davis, Giannis (in that order)

Honorable mentions:
(pretty much random order)

Kawhi
Embiid (highly doubt he 'll stay healthy, otherwise he 'd be a no-brainer for the top 5)
Porzingis (again, it seems doubtful that he can stay healthy)
KAT
Jokic
Mitchell
Tatum
KD

Possibly even someone from this year's draft? Who knows?

You really think Simmons will be the best player in the NBA? Did you watch the Playoffs? Guy can't shoot..like at all. I think he will be very good, hence why I put him in my honorable mentions, but if you can't shoot in today's NBA you have no chance of becoming the best there is.

Call me crazy, but imo he is the closest thing we 've seen to Magic.

Btw, imo Magic is the GOAT.

His combination of size and ball handling and passing ability is very reminiscent of Magic, I'll give you that. But let's not forget how versatile Magic was - the lakers could slot him in as center and he Would dominate whoever he was playing against. I could never see Simmons doing that.

I could definitely see Simmons playing small-ball center in today's NBA.

With a 6'11 WS, Simmons he will never be an adequate rim protector.
And I don't think that those will ever go - démodé.
You gotta have at least one RP, as it is easiest to score from restricted area.

According to Chard Ford, his measurements are

6' 10.25" in shoes
7' 0.5" wingspan
8' 11" standing reach
10.25" hand length & reach

https://twitter.com/chadfordinsider/status/738041668860059648

The hand length & reach numbers are highly impressive. In comparison, Bamba's (=freak of nature) measurements from the combine are

10.25'' hand width
9.75'' hand length

Obviously Bamba has a 7' 10'' wingspan as well. :P

Giannis can't either but not including him to this list is borderline criminal
