Giannis is considered a lock for the MVP award. Do you guys consider him a lock for the DPOY award as well?

------------------------------

BroLo is getting lots of love for his D this season. After all, he's averaging a career high 2.4 blocks per game (only Whiteside is averaging more blocks per game). That being said, I'm not a fan of BroLo's defensive game. The way I see it, he's far too slow to play D on the perimeter. If you ask me, he wouldn't have been able to concentrate on protecting the rim if he weren't playing next to Giannis (who's an elite help defender).

Anyway, I'm not sure whom I would pick. Gun to my head, I'd probably vote for Gobert.

I'll go for Antetokounmpo. Bucks defense is by far the best in the NBA and the Greek Freak plays a major part in that. I believe that the supporting cast of Bledsoe, Hill, Matthews, DiVincenzo, Middleton and the Lopez brothers is just profiting from playing alongside Antetokounmpo to contribute in that defensive system and that individually none of them are anything special defensively.

You post a DPOY poll on CS, and expect anyone other than Smart to win?

LOL!

I voted for him!!

Lol I shouldn't have included Smart in the poll. With all due respect, homerism runs rampant in this board! ;D

Don't get me wrong, I believe Smart is the best guard defender in the league. I just don't think he deserves the DPOY award ahead of Gobert/Giannis (at the very least).

I gotta go with Giannis. He has been terrific for the Bucks defense. So good that he has actually made people believe that Brook Lopez is a DPoY candidate. Amazing accomplishment!

Giannis imo. Anchoring a historically good defence deserves this award.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

I think it's heads up AD versus Giannis, also Giannis will most likely take it --- thanks to information and in-depth research by BBallytics.co

I doubt there will be much Sixer love, but Simmons was having a DPOY season statistically before he went down with back issues. Think he could be an issue in Orlando!

Eh, I don’t think he really has any claim. He gets a lot of steals, but other than that he’s not the best guard defender (Smart) nor wing defender (Kawhi) in the league. Giannis is anchoring an all-time elite defence, and Gobert is one of the most imposing rim protectors of the last 15 years.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)

PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Ben Simmons does not get enough credit for his defense. He is a fantastic defender. Deserves to be First team All-Defense along with Smart, Giannis and AD. Those 4 are the cream of the crop.

Giannis, he deserves it. Odds are tho they won’t give MVP and DPOY to one guy.

I hope Smart wins but it’s a long shot
