Title: Poll: Kyrie, Brown OR Tatum, Lakers pick For Gianni's
Post by: KG Living Legend on October 22, 2017, 10:25:32 PM

Tatum or Brown. Their choice. I think Ainge would pull the trigger, Bucks would not.

NO.... he is not worth two stars, and yes Kyrie is a star, and Brown and Tatum will be star players in this league.

You can just lock this thread now. Absolutely zero chance. None. Zippo. Nada. You might offer the entire Cs roster and Milwaukee would say no.

Well the first responder said he's not with it so there.

I believe that Giannis is untradeable at this point...

It sounds like one of those trades that neither team would feel comfortable doing. That is a LOT of value going out from the Cs side and the Bucks can't very well go and trade Giannis.

Boston would be more likely to do the deal, but that's mostly because Giannis is that untradable.

I’m sorry to be negative because I hate when some people on here just shut down ideas for the sake of it...but the topic of trading for Giannis is beyond pointless. He’s happy, locked up and on his way to becoming the best player in league and I honestly think not only will he be a Hall of Famer but may become one of the top five players of all time. Essentially you’re asking would Bulls trade Jordan in the 80’s because they weren’t a great team.

The Bucks are not trading Giannis - I have no idea why anybody would even ask this .  I think you would have a better chance of getting Durant from Golden State.

Even if they would trade him, I'm still not sure I'd give up that much for one guy.  We have already seen how good the Bucks are with Giannis surrounded by decent but not great talent - they are barely a playoff team.

Bring him here without Kyrie, without Tatum, and with the uncertain future of Hayward...and things aren't looking much better.

Honestly, what is the point of this thread?

I think just killing time while we wait for the "Nader + Rozier + Lakers Pick for Lebron" thread to appear.

I don't think the Bucks are trading Giannis for anything.

But I also don't see the incentive for the Celtics, either. I want to give this core a chance to grow together and compete. The value for Giannis seems decent but I don't see how it makes sense for the team.

Only if the plan is for him to win us the championship all by himself

In a heartbeat. The way I see it, he is already a top 5 / top 4 player in this league and he is only 22. It's quite possible he 'll be the best player in the world in 1-2 years time.

Last week, KD went as far as to say Giannis could become the best player ever to play in the NBA!!!!

"I like long, athletic guys. That's just who I am. The Greek Freak I think is a force, and I've never seen anything like him. And his ceiling is probably ... he could end up being the best player to ever play if he really wanted to. That's pretty scary to think about. But he's by far my favorite player to watch."

No way the Bucks trade Giannis unless perhaps he informs them that he plans to leave when his contract runs out in 2021 (pretty much what happened this year with Paul George). To put it another way, the Bucks have 3 years to build a contender. Problem is, even if the Bucks fail to build a strong team around Giannis, he may still decide to resign with them.

We had the chance to draft him back in 2013. Now all we can do is sit back and watch him play.

While we are beating dead horses.  Does anybody want to bring up how we could have drafted Giannis instead of Kelly Olynyk?  LOL.

The interesting thing is that if we had a time machine and drafted Giannis, then we would not have Brown or Tatum on this team because the small forward position would be locked up.  Who would the Celtics have drafted instead of Brown at #3 or Tatum at #3.

So many dominoes would have fallen a different way if Danny had drafted the Greek freak.  And reports are he actually flew out to Greece to see him.  In hindsight I don't understand why Danny decided on KO instead of GA.

My opinion is that Stevens wanted KO, because KO could shoot and pass and was the type of big that Stevens likes in his system. KO was also more NBA-ready. Stevens must've really wanted him because they moved up to get him.

Too bad DA listened to Stevens on this one. GA was Danny's prototypical pick type: athletic wing who couldn't shoot yet. This has Stevens written all over it.

Um, Stevens wasn't hired until July 4, 2013.  KO was drafted June 27, 2013.

My take is that we drafted for need instead of drafting the best player available (in terms of potential). I know it sounds absurd, but it's possible that we missed on Giannis because we already had Jeff Green and Gerald Wallace.

I am just gonna vote 'no' on all trades for the moment.  Love this team for after this season.

TP, and why let a little thing like facts get in the way of a good "story".

All kidding aside, though, I don't think that it's a huge stretch to think that Stevens' opinion about whom they should draft could have been solicited. If he signed one week after the draft, we know that they had to be in negotiations before the draft.

And what better way to woo someone and show them that they will have substantial input into draft decisions than by asking them whom they would draft and then doing it. That would be powerfully persuasive in courting a prized coach.

Just conjecture, I know, but not as far fetched might be thought at first blush.
