You know who really needs to step up?

John Lackey. He is not pitching well this year at all.

He is definitely not worth 85 million dollars.

He only has 9 wins because we score so many runs for him. He gives up too many runs, too many hits (135 in 113 innings), and is walking almost 4 batters (3.66) per 9 innings.

Theo got lucky with Beltre's play and some of the play from our PawSox....really lucky.

Poor investment for Lackey right now on display.

Or we could say that Beltre got lucky to play at Fenway and with the Sox.

Still, if they can get healthy, they're probably the best team in baseball.

Hopefully that can happen.

I usually hate All Star games and all festivities, including the NBA (to put things in perspective, I didn't watch last year's NBA All Star game or Pierce in the three point contest).  However, this year, I watched Papi (albeit with it on mute when he wasn't on with a book in my hand).

Does winning this prove anything?  Not really.  But after watching people give up on him, it was nice to see him bounce back make the All Star team and now win this.

It's nice to see him back.  In my opinion (despite being a bigger Celtic fan than a Sox fan by a very slight margin), he's probably the most important Boston athlete of the past 10 years.  Brady was very special, so was Pierce, but Ortiz was most responsible for breaking the Yankees and breaking the Curse.  Nothing trumps that, particularly in Boston.

Still probably won't watch the actual game tomorrow.

I'm a sucker for the MLB All Star Game.  I'm eternally hopeful that it will be a great game, but it rarely is.  I guess I'm still holding on to childhood worshiping of guys like Winfield and Parker, for one night, playing on the same team.

I might give in.  It really depends.  If I'm home and have nothing else to do, I'll watch it.

But I'd rather just watch a Sox game.

As would I too.

I was hoping francona was gonna let him get out of the jam himself cause I actually had alot of confidence that he would.  Dice-K had it goin on tonight

Yeah ... I think he would've gotten through cleanly. Francona's pitching rotations drive me crazy ... how is a young pitcher going to prove himself under pressure, if you pull him every time it gets sticky?!?

Man, Francona's rotations drive me nuts ... J-Rich is hot ... why yank him now?!? I guess I'm just old-school, but I don't care for the contemporary views on pitcher rotations. Let a guy prove himself, for crying out loud!

Lackey with a no-no through 6

I'm too tired to hang around and see what happens.  He looks sharp against this crappy Mariners lineup though.

Batting's not too shabby tonight, either ... quite the job by Nava ... talk about a debut!
