I am on the Sweetney bandwagon now.  The hilarity of seeing him out there...plus the idea of hearing Tommy's subtle (and not so subtle) fat jokes throughout the year is absolutely worth the roster spot.  Let's sign him up!

Ainge may have been trying to trade Giddens since day one...Hudson outplayed Rondo but is a long shot at best...Ainge will have a tough decison but that's why he's paid the big bucks...if Sweetney gets in shape, and that's a big if, it's a no-brainer, you keep Sweetney...talented bigs are harder to find than guards and Baby is more valueable as trade bait than Giddens

I think you're right about Giddens.  That 'he's ahead of Walker now' bit was a smokescreen all along.  Looks like it'd take months and months for Sweetney to get in shape--if he were going to.  I think we need the depth of Baby on the roster, and I also think Hudson makes the team--and suits up.

Totally.  The Sweetney jokes flow like maple syrup on pancakes.  Mike Gorman last night saying that Sweetney had a handful of jersey; "better than a handful of cheesecake!"

Can Sweetney beat Shaq and Ilgauskus down the floor in a foot race?
Everyone wants truth on his side, not everyone wants to be on the side of truth.

Depends.  Is there a buffett line at the far end of the court?

have not read the whole thread, so forgive me if this is a repeat, but i would take sweetney over the waste of space that is sheldon williams.

Cannot be repeated enough.  I can't say I think that Sweetney belongs in the NBA but he is probably proof enough that Williams doesn't, he is perhaps the worst offensive player I have ever seen.  Dude makes me miss Dwayne Jones.

Yeah, Mike's comments were priceless.  I was waiting for Tommy to refer to him as a "fat tub of guts."   :D

Answer: A crane, a gallon of axle grease and some Liquid Plummer. But seriously, I do feel a bit sorry for the guy ... he was high-scorer last night and had some great post moves that totally shocked me ... I would love to see him lose the bulk and get some more court time ... just NOT with the C's!

I agree that his post moves are NBA ready, but he would absolutely be horrible on defense.  He cannot get those feet to move quickly enough and he certainly can't get up to block shots.  His rebounding left a lot to be desired as well.

He's a one man Oliver Miller reunion tour.  It's too bad that Miller was so much more skilled.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Sweetney and Oliver Miller in the Octogon.  I smell a pay-per-view event!   ;D
