As talented as he is (he COULD be all-NBA if he had any BBIQ), it's the lack of D. Kerr's being very active in getting rid of the guys that don't put forth the effort on that end. The teams that win it all - our beloved C's being the most recent example - are the teams that excel on the defensive end.
Makes you wonder, though..... what does he think about Steve Nash?
If you REALLY want to blow up the team and start over with a defensive mindset, who do you trade first? Amare, who's 26 and has at least the POTENTIAL to be a good defender (if he matures, gets a Thibideau-like coach working with him, etc.)... or the aging PG who can't defend the proverbial chair and who will likely be gone anyway by the time the rest of the roster is figured out? How much could you get for Steve Nash? I mean, he IS the face of the franchise, I can't imagine them actually trading him... but why not? Phoenix is done, Kerr's cleaning house, Nash is getting old and can't defend at all... AND he's got a lot of trade value.
Could you imagine Nash in LA? What would the Lakers give up to have an *elite* PG next to Kobe for the next few years?
