Eroding (or eroded) skills, a terrible injury history, a huge distraction in the locker room...  Sign me up.

I think the celtics have a no fire arms policy. Instantly disqualifies arenas.

you're mistaking being unwanted for being forgotten

There's a reason for that "Forgotten Man" moniker: In terms of headaches, he's a chronic hemiplegic migraine ... there's just no consistently effective treatment for his downside.

The thing is, up until this year, the idea of an Arenas or an AI made some sense.  This team desperately needed some scoring punch.  And if Doc was able to find a way to use one of those guys as a volume scorer off the bench for 15-20 mpg, it might've worked.  The bench was so weak on scoring that the prospect of letting one of those two jack 15 shots in 15 minutes per night probably would've been an improvement over what we had.

However, this year that argument goes out the door.  Terry is everything that we hoped that either of those guys could ever be.  And we not only have him, but we're going to have him paired with either Bradley or Lee, Green, Sullinger, and Wilcox.

Thus, a guy like Arenas would not only have to buy into the team concept to fit in with this team, he'd also have to buy into sitting on the bench and/or inactive list when this team is fully healthy.

And when you combine that with what everyone else said (the diminishing skills, the headaches, etc.) it just doesn't make any sense to do it.

yall laughed about this post but I think he's the best available option on the market. the Bi-Annual should suit him well.

I wouldn't want him. The guy's very best days are behind him in my opinion.

I think he would come in with a "chip on his shoulder" type of mentality, and while that can sometimes be a good thing, I don't believe that would be healthy for the Celtics.  Ever since the summer of 2007, the team's mentality changed to a mindset of guys knowing their roles and accepting them...whether it be a defensive presence, a guy to come in and just waste fouls, a scorer, leader, etc....I can't see Arenas coming into this system and accepting a small role, taking a backseat to Rondo, KG, Pierce, etc.  He might say all the right things on camera, but the guy probably still has an ego the size of Mount Everest.

He'll take half the minimum if we could offer it to him. Might as well keep Xmas; he'll automatically play better, with more confidence and less headaches.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I really would love to see him rebound and become at least an acceptable backup point guard who could occasionally get  hot. Unfortunately, I don't even think there's a fraction of a hope for him at this point.

The only reason I'd totally invite him to camp is to get him upset with us and have him bad mouth us so that we can drop him and he can go to the Heat or possibly the Lakers and ruin them
