Game Notes:
The Mavericks are playing in the final game of a 4 game road trip. The beat Philly, lost to the Bucks and beat Detroit on their way to this game.  there wasn't much defense played in the Bucks game as the final score was 133 - 99.  The Celtics swept the series last season for the first time since the '93-'94 season.  The Mavs are 12-11 on the road and the Celtics are 21-2 on the road.  The Celtics have won 7 in a row and are 7-3 in their last 10 games while the Mavs are 4-6 in their last 10 games.  Former Celtic Gerald Green is on the Mavs roster but has played in only 23 games and is averaging 11 points per game.

Team Connections
Brian Scalabrine and Jason Kidd were teammates in New Jersey
Gerald Green was originally drafted by the Celtics with the 18th pick in the 2005 draft
Brandon Bass and Big Baby Davis are former LSU Tigers
Mavs Coach Rick Carlisle played for the Celtics from 1984-1987 and won a ring with the Celtics in 1986.

Keys to the Game
Defense  When the Celtics play their trademark tough defense, they are very hard to beat.  When they went on the losing streak, it was the defense that was missing.  As long as they stress defense and put the defense first, they have a very good chance of beating any team in the league.

Rebound  The Mavericks are a very good rebounding team and are 3rd in the league in defensive rebounds.  The Celtics need to be aggressive in crashing the boards and going after rebounds.

Limit Turnovers   The Celtics still turn the ball over too much and they need to work on taking better care of the ball.  A team like the Nets will make them pay by converting the turnovers into points.

Be Aggressive  The Celtics need to be aggressive in going after loose balls and taking the ball to the basket.  While the Celtics are good shooters, they shouldn't depend on the outside shot (see Orlando Magic).  They need to aggressively take the ball to the hoop as well as be aggressive in going after loose balls and rebounds.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I hope we get up big, and we get to see some Gerald Green vs. Bill Walker.

I'm pretty sure Gerald is more athletic, but Bill is the better all around player.... and Bill's not even that well-rounded... that says something about Gerald Green.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Billy's just as atheletic as Gerald, and he's got a pretty rounded game with his improvement in outside shooting.

Yes any time the game is on national TV it will be blocked on the broadband.

You don't get ABC?

I am really excited for both of the key matchups you stated FL...

A couple people had Jason Kidd ahead of Rondo on the point guard lists in the Tony Parker thread... Today should go a long way towards deciding that battle because while one game can't make a completely convincing argument, I really think that Kidd is no longer even a top half point guard in the league. Rondo could settle this debate by showing just how far he's ahead of Kidd this afternoon.

Also, Dirk and KG is going to be fun to watch when Dallas has the ball in particular. I just get the impression KG lives for these matchups with elite offensive PFs.
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

TP for FL.

Used to watch Jose Barea play at Northeastern.  He's quick and might be someone who could keep up with Rondo....Kidd's going to look foolish today.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Yeah, Kidd might be in trouble.

Rondo seems to be trying to make examples out of all the top points.

It's pretty obvious he's making his bid for the Allstar Game.
