Jaylen in 12 December games ....

13.5 points, 4 reb, 1.7 ast, 49% / 34% / 70% in 24 mpg

That's definitely encouraging.

Biggest positive sign would be his 109 offensive rating for December after posting a 91 ORTG the previous two months.  The team was break-even with him on the floor in December.

Jaylen has been playing with a lot of energy, including on defense, I would say only behind Marcus and Kyrie in the energy department.  That shows growth and maturity, coming off the bench, and not sulking.

Given what his role is on this team, that's not terrible. Obviously we'd like to see an uptick in 3P% but what this team needs from him is to be a high level 3-and-D wing.

Boston Celtics rookie Jaylen Brown's dad is a 7-foot, professional heavyweight boxer
Posted Aug 26, 2016

While the 19-year-old forward is an outstanding basketball talent in his own right, good genes may have aided Brown in his development. Look no further than Jaylen's father, Marselles, who is a professional heavyweight boxer at 48 years old.

Marselles Brown, who is 7-feet tall and boasts an 86-inch reach, holds a record of 31-18 in his career with 23 knockouts.

The elder Brown took part in his first professional fight back on January 13, 1989 -- while his last fight was back on July 30, 2016. Marselles is the 2016 World Boxing Union (WBU) World Champion, the 2015 WBU C.A.M. Heavyweight Champion and serves as a member of the Hawaii State Boxing Commission Board.

Marselles, who recently came out of retirement to continue his boxing career, told boxing247.com that motivating his sons -- Jaylen and Quenton -- was the main reason why he decided to get back in the ring.

"My main motivation for coming out of retirement was to show my kids that I never gave up on my dreams," Brown said. "So I didn't want them to give up on theirs. I am extremely proud of both my sons. I am especially proud of Jaylen. He is an extraordinary athlete and very smart."

Here's a look of Marselles Brown in action against King Ipitan at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on June 23, 2000.

To expand on this:  Since December 1, Jaylen has posted a scoring efficiency of 58.6%.   That's excellent.  That's also on moderately heavy ("2nd option" level) USG of 23.4% when he's on the floor.  Only Kyrie (29.3%) has a higher USG during that time.

While Jaylen has been on the floor during this stretch (753 possessions), the team has scored 113.4 points per 100 and surrendered 106.0 for a very healthy Net rating of +7.4.

This Jaylen looks much more like the Jaylen of last year.

Jeezus.   What a quick right hand his dad has.  It's already a bit unfair because of his long reach.  But he's got crazy explosive hip turn off his right leg and that launches his right hand like a missile.   He was planting that fist on Ipitan's left cheek again and again, whenever he wanted.

Too bad Ipitan was such a dirty fighter, throwing all those illegal rabbit punches.   What an absolute _____.  Those are so dangerous.

And all this in just 24 mpg. Jaylen's per36 numbers since 12/1 are some of the best per36 numbers Jaylen has put up.
