Official Report
Bad Ref Alert - Mark Davis is the lead referee in this game and in an LA Times survey in 2016, players and coaches voted him one of the worst referees in the league so he may very well be an X-factor. Celtics fans may remember him as the ref that Rajon Rondo threw the ball at to get ejected. Here are a couple of quotes from the article about Davis:
“He’s cool as they come, but he’s so arrogant,” one player said. “He instigates things sometimes. Marc will go back at a player. He forgets that he’s talking to another man. Don’t challenge a man’s manhood. Now you are going too far.”“Marc Davis is hands down the worst,” a player said. “He acts likes he’s your friend, but he’ll just screw you. He’ll screw you and he’ll get the biggest attitude about it.”
Davis' home W/L record this season is 35-32 so he isn't influenced by the home crowd. The Celtics are 7-3 in their last 10 games with Davis while the Bucks are 3-7 in their last 10 with Davis.
Double Bad Ref Alert: And, Marc Davis isn't the only bad ref calling this game. Tony Brothers, who is widely known as one of the worst refs in the league. Pretty much every team cringes when they see him calling a game. He was voted the worst ref in the league by 24.5 of the players in their recent survey. With Brothers, you never know what you will get. Sometimes he calls everything on both teams. Sometimes he lets both teams play. And, sometimes he calls a game one sided for one of the teams. Hopefully we get the Tony Brothers that lets them play both ways in this game.
Brothers home W/L record is 42-23. The Celtics are 7-3 in their last 10 games with Brothers while the Bucks are 4-6 in their last 10.
The third ref, Tom Washington, can be good or bad depending on the game but mostly he lets them play and there isn't a lot of controversy around him either. His home W/L record this season is 35-28. The Celtics are 7-3 in their last 10 games with him while the Bucks are 8-2 in their last 10.
