Title: Can Jayson Tatum take over Game 7 vs Cavs?
Post by: vjcsmoke on May 27, 2018, 01:16:21 PM
So I've been thinking about Tatum's performance in game 6.  It was okay but it was not nearly as assertive and strong as game 5.  I feel like his collision with Love affected him negatively as well so it took a bit for him to get back in the game.

BUT if Tatum is locked in for game 7, he really might be the X-factor that helps us get over the hump and into the NBA Finals.

So who do you think will step up with a great/key performance for Game 7?

Or Brown or Horford or Rozier ....even Morris , Smart can be heros

Goodluck for the Cavs to try to tame more than half of this crew

Hopefully it will be everyone who steps up in the same game!

No need for a specific player to take over. It's a team game. Hopefully, the team as a whole will take over.

C's will need:
- a "Good Al" game from Horford
- a minimum of 3 of these 4 guys to have a good shooting night: Rozier, Brown, Tatum and Morris
- Smart to play "smart" and not chuck up a number of bad shots
- Brad to be better at calling quicker TOs should Cleveland get on any kind of a run before it gets out of hand.  He cannot wait until the C's are in a 15-20 point hole before calling a TO.
- All 5 C's on the floor to be defensive rebounding every Cleveland miss.  Need to limit Cleveland to 5 offensive rebounds or less in the game.
- Take care of the ball -- force Cleveland into turning it over while limiting their own TO's for the game to 8 or less.

At least a 3-headed monster would be nice.  They got 2 last game, just couldn't make stops when they needed them.

All of this.

Great transition D - no easy buckets!! Half court D needs to be on a string - be ready for Jeff Green backcuts and finish off possessions with rebounds. Force turnovers to  get our own easy buckets and rattle them. Work for good shots on offense and don’t get lazy by launching threes early in the shot clock. Don’t miss open layups and dunks! And so on.

For a specific thing: be ready for Cleveland to double Al and have a plan for cutters and spot-up shooters to make themselves available for a pass and a good look. We should burn that double for a few dunks and open 3s.
