Not enough dribble penetration on this team.
No go-to guy who generates double teams and forces team defense out of position. Creating openings for others. Without a player like that, the team is very reliant on dribble penetration from perimeter players to get opponents team defense out of position.
No Rondo is a huge problem in this regard. Puts too much pressure on others. Will Bynum 2nd best dribble drive player on team. Not available yet and may be waived before he is ever really part of the team. Bradley, Wallace and J.Green provide little dribble penetration. So responsibility forced onto Evan Turner and Marcus Smart. Smart hasn't been aggressive enough for my liking. Which in turn has put far too much pressure on Turner (which has made it easy for Nets to hone in on him and make his life difficult).
Hard to be effective offensively in NBA when you can't get initial team defense off kilter. Leads to low percentage shot attempts (high proportion of long jump-shots & contested shots).
Dribble penetration will be key to Celtics offense this year. Can't wait for Rondo to get to get back.
